10 Celebrity NFT Drops in 2022

Since the beginning of 2021, the NFT market has attracted a wide range of audiences, from industries to celebrities. Between those all everyday NFT drops, the acceptance of NFTs by many celebrities, specially the artists and musicians, further add to the hype of the market. Celebrities either have released their own NFT collections or have been eagerly purchasing NFTs.

1. Snoop Dogg NFT drops

Snoop Dogg is a famous American rapper, entrepreneur and an NFT enthusiast. He owns one of the most expensive NFT collections among celebrities, with about $17 million investment in NFTs. His most expensive NFT is Bores Ape #8472. The rapper also owns several other CryptoPunks, Bored Apes, Meebits, Moonbirds, etc.

In April 2021, Snoop Dogg decided to release his NFT collection and announced his first-ever NFT Collection release through Cryto.com. This celebrity NFT drop: NFT collection was “A Journey with the Dogg”, which was welcomed by NFT lovers and his fans. In collaboration with Chris Torris, a Nyan Cat NFT creator, Snoop introduced “Nyan Dogg” NFT collection.

Besides, Snoop released his first music label, “Death Row” NFT. There are other NFT collections released by Snoop Dogg, including “Baked Nation” on Cardano Blockchain($ADA), B.O.D.R NFT album, etc. He not only actively releases his NFTs but also purchases others digital assets.

2. Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton is an American singer, DJ, actress, and entrepreneur. She has been a member of the NFT community since 2016 after becoming “friends” with the founder of Ethereum. Fortune Magazine listed Paris Hilton in the top 50 influential personalities in the NFT industry.

Paris Hilton also owns a piece of the most famous NFT collection, “Bored Ape #1294.” Her first NFT Collection called “Past Lives, New Beginnings” was created in 2019 and sold in 2020. It was for a charity and later won the “Best Charity Award” at the NFT year award. In April 2021, she launched “Iconic Crypto Queen” and sold for $1.1 million in ETH. She also owns 150 NFT from the collection.

3. Grimes

Grimes is an American singer and songwriter who recently sold WarNymph digital collection for $6 million at an auction. WarNymph includes a series of 10 pieces sold on the NFT platform Nifty Gateway. Some of them were of one kind, and others with thousands of copies. The most expensive piece of art was “Death of the old,” which was a video. The video pictures flying cherubs, swords, and glowing light, which was originally in the video song of Grimes. The piece was sold for nearly $389,000.

Most sales come from two video pieces named “Earth” and “Mars” showing the planets with giant cherubs holding a weapon. Each piece was available for $7,500, and 700 copies sold for $5.18 million before the sale closed.

4. Steve Aoki

Next on the list is Steve Aoki. He is a visionary and successful American-based DJ and Producer and an avid part of the NFT community who began creating NFTs in 2021. Aoki has collected and engaged with numerous influential projects over the year.

To date, Aoki has dropped two NFT collections “Neon Future” and “Dream Catcher Collection” on Nifty Gateway. His NFT art went beyond expectations by offering up bonus collectibles, and even a burn mechanism for collectors to destroy editions of his previous collection to receive new NFTs.

5. Lionel Messi

Messi’s NFT drop is yet another instance of cryptocurrencies making in-roads into the sports ecosystem. This Argentinian footballer has launched his own NFT collection called The Ballon d’Or in May 2022 in partnership with Australia-based digital artist BossLogic. Messi’s NFT collection includes special images of the footballer, who is often regarded as the best in the world.

One of the pieces from Messi NFT collection sold for more than $1 million on the Ethernity NFT marketplace. A recent announcement for selling another piece of NFT on the Ethernity platform was set to 3,000 ETH, which is more than $9 million.

6. Madonna

The queen of pop, Madonna, launched her first NFT collection called Mother of Creation in collaboration with record-setting artist Beeple in May 2022. The NFT collection includes three non-fungible tokens titled Mother of Technology, Mother of Nature and Mother of Evolution. The NFTs show a 3D video of Madonna giving birth to robot centipedes, butterflies and trees.

Madonna’s NFT collection sold in an auction on the NFT marketplace SuperRare. All three pieces were sold as Mother of Technology was sold for 66.55 ETH ($135,608), Mother Evolution for 72.05 ETH ($146,816), and Mother of Nature earned Madonna the highest price, 170.5 ETH ($346,405).

7. Shawn Mendes

The Canadian singer Shawn Mendes agreed to launch digital wearables in collaboration with avatar company Genies in September 2021. The NFT collection was set for sale on OpenSea marketplace. These NFTs were based on his album Wonder. The NFT shows musicians wearing guitars, vast necklaces, and earrings for sale.

The digitally “wearable” tokens, mainly the images of necklaces and earrings, earned Mendes over $1 million in sales.

8. Johnny Depp

Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has launched over 10,000 unique non-fungible tokens (NFTs) all drawn from his own paintings. His “Never Fear Truth” NFT collection includes portraits of his family and friends.

The collection Never Fear Truth consists of 11,111 NFTs, though only 10,000 of them are available for public sale. The remaining 1,111 are held between Depp and his team. The tokens were minted on the Ethereum blockchain and were initially available only on the official website of the initiative. Later, the tokens were dropped on Rarible NFT marketplace.

The average price for one NFT from the collection was $317.1 and the total sale reached $3.81k.

9. Justin Bieber

Canadian singer and Grammy Award winner Justin Bieber became the member of Bored Ape Yacht Club after buying Bored Ape #3001 for 500 ETH or $1.3 million at the time. Bored Ape #3001 is currently the most expensive NFT in Bieber’s portfolio. He also owns a Mutant Ape and several CloneX, Doodles, CyberKongz, and World of Women.

Bieber also owns an NFT piece by InBetweeners.

10. Von Miller

Last celebrity NFT drop but not least, sports personality and American Football star, Von Miller owns an NFT portfolio worth $863,000. Miller holds Bored Ape #1432, worth around $167,000, and Bored Ape #4733. He holds Mutant Apes, Mutant Serum, CLONE X, World of Women.

Early 2022, he launched a collection called Super Von: A Journey and the collection includes 9 NFTs. The floor price of each NFT started from 0.03 ETH and reached 2.9 ETH in traded volume at the time.
