Posted on the 18 May 2013 by Worldxcmtb @worldxcmtb

The first half of the Women Juniors race was dominated by German rider Sofia Wiedenroth. When she suffered a heavy crash Italy's Greta Weithaler took the lead and won the race after three laps. "It was awesome", said Weithaler. She loved the race course.

Malene Deng from Denmark was second, only four seconds behind. She also praised the newly built Albstadt course: "I love the technical downhills and I also like the steep climbs." American Kate Courtney had to fight her way up from eighth position to third place on the podium: "It was no problem, there was ample space to pass. Third place in the first World Cup: it's a great result."

Despite her crash and two pit stops at the Tech Zone, Sofia Wiedenroth finished seventh and was best German competitor.
