OMERGAWD I can’t believe Singapore actually had the privilege of being the first in the world to launch their newest Le Cushion Encre de Peau aka the Fusion Ink Cushion Foundation aka YSL’s very first bb cushion! Now the formula is supposedly the same / improved from the Fusion Ink Foundation – I don’t care, eh eh eh eh eh. Just lemme at the Cushion Foundation nao~!

I say…
The Packaging: It’s a gorgeous eye-catching glossy gold and black packaging that is unfortunately a magnet for fingerprints. I love that the YSL emblem is embedded into the case (ie it’s not on the surface), so no matter how scratched and bumped up the case might get, the logo remains intact. There’s a little notch that you press to open the casing, and it opens to reveal the sponge puff, the tray that functions as a sponge puff holder as well as an airlock to prevent the cushion from drying out. Oh, and the sponge puff is soft enough and picks up enough product for 1 application (tbh it’s pretty much similar to the rest of the BB cushions in the market).

The Scent: I love the scent! It smells so fragrant but without being overpowering. (I will go sniff out the Fusion Ink foundation to find out if it’s the same scent).
The Texture & Finish: It’s cooling to the touch (me likey!), and is ultra lightweight but yet gives a decent medium level of coverage. Note in my photos that my dark eye circles are not completely covered, but just covered up enough for me to not feel self-conscious about. Major blemishes are also covered up pretty easily. Surprisingly, 1 coat gives a rather decent coverage (but I go for 2 or more simply because I’ve got to hide those icky dark circles. Yes, yes, I know I can use concealer, but this is how I like to test the efficacy of my base products heh). I was expecting a full-on matte finish (since this is a Western brand afterall), but it does come with a certain level of moist dewiness (although it’s nothing as blinding as certain Korean BB/CC cushions). I’d say that it’s about 75% matte and 25% dewy. (you can tone down the dewiness by dusting a light layer of powder). Although it can be somewhat “moistfull”, if you give it sufficient time to set, it will not streak. In terms of oil control, I’d say it’s a medium level – the face can get a little shiny over time, but my oil film doesn’t get soaked though.
The Verdict: A pretty damn impressive cushion from a Western brand, I must say. Despite it being so lightweight (you can barely feel it on the skin, yay!), it manages to give a medium level of coverage as well as wear time, lasting about 4+ hours before starting to disappear. A plus point is that it doesn’t oxidise, is hydrating enough for the skin (even the dry cheek areas didn’t appear patchy after 4+ hours), and gives a good balance of dewiness and matte finish. A giant plus point is its gorgeous sleek and sexay packaging – you can’t really beat the combi of black and gold (unless you throw in some bling, hah!). It’s a cushion that’s good enough to apply your makeup at home, and also great for touch-ups since it’s hydrating enough and will help soothe/cover up the dry patches caused by an extended period of time spent in airconditioning. Should you get it? I say yes (but then again, when have I ever said no to a cushion foundation hurhurhur). Admittedly, it is slightly pricey, so I’d recommend this for those looking for medium-coverage cushions and have skintypes that are either combi, combi-dry or dry. Alternatively, if you’re looking for an accessory, you can get this too – watch everyone’s heads turn when you whip this outta your handbag (I kid you not – it is an amazing head-turner!).
