Sri Lanka’s popular mobile carrier, Dialog came up with their own line of smartphones just a few months ago. They released two type of phones dubbed Dialog i35 and Dialog i43. I managed to get my hands on the Dialog i35 smartphone, and this is what I think about the device.

Dialog i35 is actually a Chinese phone, originally known as Innos A35. It’s the cheapest and the smaller smartphone in the Dialog smartphone lineup. It has a 3.5-inch TFT display with 320×480 resolution, gets powered by 800mhz RM Cortex A5 CPU, 512MB of RAM and runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread.
The 2 megapixel camera on the back is surprisingly good but, don’t expect to practice photography with this phone. There’s also a 0.3MP camera in front for video calling. The phone also has all the other features that comes in a smartphone like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G, 7.2 HSDPA and radio.
Performance of the device is impressive. Games like NFS Most wanted and Assassins Creed ran pretty smoothly on this device with medium graphic quality. After fully charged, the battery lasts over 24-hours with using just voice calls. But if you use apps, it will cut down to just 12-hours. Overall, the feel of the Dialog i35 is great, although a bit heavier than most other smartphones.
Since it comes as an operator branded phone, a Dialog SIM is a must to power-up this phone. However, you can use a different carrier SIM on the SIM slot 2. So, you won’t be needing to root (unlock) this phone.
I should probably mention that I had to change my phone the very next day I bought it because the lower-right spot on the screen didn’t respond to touch. But, the company gave me another phone when I turned it in. If you’re going to get this phone, make sure all the keys on the keyboard works, vertically and horizontally before buying.
The price of this device has been cut down to 8,990 rupees. I think it’s a well-worth device at this cost. If you’re in the market for a cheap smartphone, you should probably grab one of these before the stocks run out.
