The Small Screen Diaries- 05/14/24

A weird diary day. I swear I watched more TV than this, but some of it didn’t have AD. Like, I finally advanced to the second episode of the second season of Extraordinary, a show that absolutely had audio description created, but Hulu for some reason enjoys paying for things they aren’t using. I don’t understand it. it still doesn’t have audio description attached, even though it exists. This is such an odd phenomenon. It would be like being in a building and wanting to use the accessible bathroom, and finding out that there is one… but no one can get to it. They built it, it exists, but it is impossible to get to somehow.

I did watch another episode of the bonkers Parasite: The Grey (Netflix), which would be an awesome choice at the Emmy’s this year if it broke through like Squid Game. But, it won’t. I already know that. but, it sounds gory as all hell, and even though the quality of the audio description isn’t my favorite, at least I feel like I’m properly immersed in the gore.

Knuckles (Paramount Plus) should have just been a movie. The episodes stretching for time ends up in a lot of weak moments that just don’t work. Episode 5 also wasn’t any good. This started off so promising, and it just went down the toilet so very very fast. And the AD is in mono.

Celebrity Jeopardy (Hulu) did have audio description. With one more set until six become four, Mateo and Amy are fighting to stay alive.

And that’s it. Slow news day.
