Picture of the Day
MK Meir Porush (UTJ) protested in the Knesset Constitutional Committee headed by MK Gilad Kariv (Labor). Kariv, a Reform rabbi, used his Knesset immunity earlier today to bring a Torah into the women's section of the Kotel for the egalitarian minyan (WoW, etc). Porus protested at the start of the session, and Kariv allowed the protest. Porush recited Tehillim aloud, and when pushed to leave, he sat on the floor and continued. After a few minutes Kariv called him to order and Porush refused to get up, insisting on continuing his protest. After 3 calls to order, Porush was forcibly removed from the session. At that point they took a break and Kariv said it is important to allow MK Porush to voice his protest and it is time for the session to get started and hopefully Porush would rejoin after the break. Porush, not a member of the committee, did not return after he eventually left - he called on Kariv to stop his provocation at the Kotel and said you stop going to the Kotel and I will stop coming to the committee.
Porush is the king of antics. I remember when he handcuffed himself to the Knesset podium.
