This Summer I’m Living in These Five Nobody’s Child Dresses

By Elliefrost @adikt_blog

Known for its bold prints, sustainable ethos and reasonable price tags, Nobody's Child is one of my favorite brands for affordable women's clothing. Since its inception in 2015, it has become a popular and reliable choice for many and demand has seen it become the first guest brand to ever be stocked at Marks & Spencer. The brand has a loyal following and even has a host of celebrity fans, including Sienna Miller, Rochelle Humes and Fearne Cotton, who have collaborated with the brand on a number of collections.

I'm one of the biggest fans, with my wardrobe full of Nobody's Child dresses. I appreciate the label for many reasons, but the price and the excellent fit appeal to me the most. Unlike other well-known brands such as French Connection and Reiss, which I wear occasionally, Nobody's Child offers much more reasonable prices, with options ranging from £35 to £150. It offers that 'safe' factor that I appreciate knowing that a brand that consistently performs, and Nobody's Child certainly always meets my expectations.

Why I highly rate Nobody's Child dresses

Firstly, I really appreciate the accurate sizing, which can be a huge challenge when shopping on the high street. While with other brands I often fluctuate between size 8 and 12, with Nobody's Child I am confident that size 10 fits well, and that the waist and length sizes match perfectly.

So you can find the best personalized fit for you, Nobody's Child also offers three different sections: a small collection perfectly tailored for those under 6 feet tall, a maternity section, and an extended sizing option that reaches up to size 24. Although I am 6 feet tall and normally shop small if it is available, I often find that normal height suits me too.

For me, the other big bonus is that Nobody's Child dresses are designed with flattering silhouettes in mind. I especially love their pleated effect dresses that flatter the waist and the way many dresses are designed with full sleeves that help hide my bingo wings.

The brand's sustainability ethos also makes you feel like you're shopping more responsibly, as it uses organic and recycled materials in its clothing. Furthermore, with the brand's goal to introduce circular design principles to 75% of our range by 2025, I appreciate its commitment to staying abreast of the latest innovations in the sector. In fact, it's rare to find a sustainable brand that offers fashionable clothing with a reasonable price tag (most of the dresses below cost less than £80).

With the warm weather and busy summer season upon us, I've picked out five of my favorite dresses for every occasion. Whether you want to dress to impress for work, your summer vacation, a day at the races or a summer wedding, the options below have you covered.

I love pleated dresses because I find them extremely comfortable to wear, and as someone with a bit of a sagging stomach, they seem to pull me in in all the right places. When pleating, the fabric is stretched and gently pleated for a flattering effect, and it works beautifully on this dress. It turns a somewhat plain dress into a statement piece, and I love the addition of a square neckline with ruffles and cap sleeves on this khaki number.

Made from organic cotton, the fabric felt very comfortable to wear, and the cut-out back helped me stay cool. Thanks to the well-thought-out design, you can also wear a bra without the straps being visible. The smocked waist flows into an A-line skirt, which is a great design feature as it emphasizes the waist before falling into a flowy skirt. This is the perfect dress to wear for a variety of summer occasions, I especially enjoyed wearing it with a pair of metallic sandals.

Shop the floral dress Shop in pink

This dress also comes in solid pastel pink, but I've always loved Nobody's Child's floral prints, and this one is no exception. The beautiful print makes it a perfect summer work outfit and the crepe woven fabric makes it light and airy. The yellow and orange flowers, together with the green leaves, form a beautiful print that comes together in a striking patchwork pattern.

As for the style of the dress, the sweetheart neckline is one that suits all shapes. I have a size 34C and noticed that just enough of the bust was visible. The short puff sleeves are stretchy but don't feel tight on the upper arms, and I love the way the fabric drapes and glides over the lower half of the body.

The low back of the dress is a nice addition and because the zipper is cleverly concealed, the dress falls elegantly. I wore this dress with chunky heel sandals and received many compliments, so it's definitely a dress I'll be wearing more often this summer.

Shop in white Shop in green Shop in black

I fell in love with this dress, made from lightweight organic cotton, as soon as I saw it online. There's something about this pale white dress with yellow and green flowers that is just so beautiful. While I'm not sure I'll be showing off my upper arms in public, the square neckline and thick ruffled straps of this smock dress were actually very flattering. Plus, the pleated bodice meant my bra wasn't visible underneath, which is quite rare with a white dress.

This is the perfect summer dress to wear on holiday and the color looks beautiful on tanned skin. I wore it with sandals, but I think a pair of white sneakers would look great too. And when it got a bit chilly in the evening, I put on a dark blue denim jacket that completed the outfit. I took this with me on an overnight trip last week, and the good news is that the cotton barely folded in my luggage, so you can just throw this on as an easy-to-wear garment. The dress is also available online in similar styles in green and black.

Fearne Cotton's latest collaboration with Nobody's Child features so many great summer styles, but this organic cotton poplin dress is by far my favorite.

As for the length, I'm 6 feet tall, and it fell just past my ankles, so I would recommend wearing it with heels if you're short. I wore it with silver wedges because I love the color combination. The halter neck can easily be tied into a beautiful bow at the top of the neckline, and I can reassure you that the material is strong enough to last all night. It requires a strapless bra, and although much of the back is visible, the top of my bra was still hidden.

I absolutely love halter dresses as I find them very flattering, and if you have long hair like me, I find a messy bun or updo is the best way to show off the neckline. This dress also has pleat detail at the top, after which the skirt flares out to create a flattering silhouette.

And the best part? It has pockets! I just love a dress with pockets because it really takes the style to the next level. The dress is also available in white, which is a great option if you're looking for an easy holiday outfit that you can pair with sandals or trainers.

Shop in blue Shop in pink Shop in orange Shop in cream

Available in a similar style in pink, terracotta and cream (without the straps at the back). This dress is flying off the shelves and it's easy to see why. It is the perfect dress for a summer wedding or special occasion, because it meets all the requirements in terms of style, fit and elegance. I chose the sky blue color to complement my eye color.

There is so much to love about this dress, but I'm going to start with the back because it has such a wow factor. It has a square back where you can tie the straps into a bow that hangs just above the zipper of the skirt. This creates a very nice silhouette for the back and, most importantly, hides the bra line.

The tie closure also means you can tighten the dress if you want to tuck in the waist more, or loosen it if you want to feel more comfortable as the day progresses. Made from a responsible viscose blend with a hint of linen, it is a wonderfully lightweight fabric. However, it does wrinkle a bit, so keep in mind that the skirt part of the dress may need a quick ironing.

Although this dress has one of Nobody's Child's highest prices (€120), the high-quality and luxurious-looking details, such as the beautiful puffed sleeves, the bow detail at the back and the flowy A-line skirt, elevate the dress to a flattering and chic masterpiece that made me feel absolutely gorgeous.
