To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bon Jovi they come together to discuss everything that has happened during that time, in a very intimate way. The journey from New Jersey clubs to global fame and being one of the best live bands of all time.

4 Episodes

Since the 2000 Crush album Bon Jovi have been my all time favourites with music, obviously I know they have been around for longer than that, but given my teens years at that stage and the epic “It’s My Life” that album was truly everything and I have been a fan ever since, the only thing I hate is that I have only managed to see them 3 times on tour.

1984 is the year that Bon Jovi were formed, but before that Jon Bon Jovi had already started his journey into music and knew he wanted to perform. Being in bands that would cover other people’s songs he realised that actually he wanted to also write his own, having David Bryan in his world rather early on as well.

As a really massive fan of the band I am probably slightly biased towards everything in this four episode documentary, but in all honesty I don’t really care. It was certainly made for fans who love the music and everything they have tried to do over the years. It was interesting see the efforts to become one of the top bands and following up a successful album is never an easy task.

We also take an intimate look into Jon’s struggles with his voice and working hard to get it back to what it had been and be able to record a new album. This contained some very emotional moments which even saw the superstar breakdown in tears, which is understandable when his love for performing was going to be taken away.

I do feel as though one of the best moments was the end of episode one with Richie Sambora appearing, I had been wondering if he would be included after his rather abrupt and quick departure from the band. He was obviously a very big part of it all with him co-writing a lot of the songs with Jon and the way they would all perform together was just so good.
