Kendrick Lamar Fires Back: Strikes Drake Twice in One Week with “6:16 in LA.

Posted on the 18 May 2024 by Sandeep Malik

Renowned American musician Kendrick Lamar has once again taken aim at Drake through his latest track, “6:16 in LA.”, marking the second diss in a span of a week. The first track, “Euphoria,” unleashed on a Tuesday, garnered accolades within the hip-hop community.

Released without preamble, “Euphoria” playfully mocked various aspects of Drake’s career, reigniting the longstanding rivalry between the two titans of the music industry. The feud, which traces back over a decade, had its origins in a once-amicable relationship between the two artists. In their earlier years, Drake and Lamar collaborated on notable tracks like “Buried Alive Interlude” and “Poetic Justice,” showcasing mutual respect and talent. However, tensions simmered as Lamar asserted his dominance in the hip-hop realm, culminating in lyrical jabs aimed at Drake.

Although many thought the beef had been relegated to history, Lamar’s involvement in Metro Boomin’s “Like That” track stirred the embers once more. The collaborative album “We Don’t Trust You,” dropped by Future and Metro Boomin in March 2024, further fanned the flames. The subsequent release of “We Still Don’t Trust You” in April featured artists like The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, Rick Ross, and J. Cole.

In retaliation, Drake countered with two diss tracks on April 19, namely “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” hurling insults at Lamar, J. Cole, The Weeknd, Future, Metro Boomin, and Rick Ross.

Lamar’s “Euphoria,” released on April 30, is speculated to draw its title from the popular HBO series, of which Drake serves as an executive producer.

With “6:16 in LA.”, Lamar continues to escalate the feud, leaving fans eagerly anticipating Drake’s response to the Grammy Award-winning artist’s latest salvo.
