Plot: In a bright and colourful future, a young destitute caretaker gets targeted by the ruthless son of a powerful family who lives on a planet in need of a new heir, so she travels with a genetically engineered warrior to the planet in order to stop his tyrant reign.

Verdict: Original But Too Much
Story: Jupiter Ascending starts by with Jupiter (Kunis) telling us her story of how she was born without a country after her father is murdered before she was born. Now in her twenties (or Kunis age) she works as a cleaner with her remaining family. We go onto meet Balem (Redmayne), Titus (Booth) and Kalique (Middleton) Abrasax who harvest lives from around the universe and their newest target has become Earth. We continue to meet the characters this time with the solo hunter Caine Wise (Tatum) searching on Earth.
The Abrasax seem to all be planning for something against each other to gain the praise for the harvest on Earth. Jupiter’s simple life is about to take a turn when she sees aliens trying to test her clients only to get caught and saved by Caine Wise. Balem wants Jupiter dead while Titus wants her bought back to his home world by Caine. While I was going to complain about the city wide attack which left building crumbling but as they actually explain the cover up idea I do have to say I like this concept.
Caine goes to meet and old friend Stinger Apini (Bean) who teaches us the true identity of Jupiter and that she is in fact royalty. Jupiter ends up on a new world where she learns the origin of the human race stuck in the middle of the battling family who are all after the power within the universe where her choice could be the only savior of mankind.
Jupiter Ascending is a film I had only heard bad things about and while I went in with lower expectation I actually found myself enjoying this one. Whether you liked the final product you have to praise the original factor of this film especially when he have so many sequels, remakes and source material film. I will say this film does have flaws but why is it criticised so heavily, we get an idea we have see similar where three characters are fighting for land that belongs to someone who newly discovers they are involved. I do feel we could have had part of this cut off because it does seem to go on a little long. As sci-fi films goes this is actually pretty good I think people will enjoy even though they would have herd bad things about it. (7/10)
Actor Review
Mila Kunis: Jupiter Jones is a normal young woman who was born without a country or a father and ends up working as a cleaner with her family. Jupiter’s life gets thrown completely upside down when she discovers that she is part of a royal family running the universe and that she is one who can save Earth from harvesting from and evil members of the family each trying to get what they want from her Mila does a good job in a role that is something we wouldn’t normally see her in. (7/10)
Channing Tatum: Caine Wise is a spliced alien species who protects Jupiter on Earth and in space as he knows the politics of what is going on while Jupiter enters into each situation without knowing what will happen next. He a fearless warrior that will never give up in his fight making him all the more dangerous to anyone trying to get in his way. Channing continues to show he is ready to be a leading man by giving us a very good performance. (7/10)
Sean Bean: Stinger Apini was Caine’s trainer who took the blame when Caine went rogue attacking a royal family member, he has been exiled to Earth where he will end up living a normal life. He works with Caine longing to get his place back in the universe. Sean gives us his trademark Bean performance where he is tough but is easily pushed into different sides. (7/10)
Eddie Redmayne: Balem Abrasax is the member of the family who currently owns Earth, it is his choice when Earth gets harvest until Jupiter is discovered his position has been put in real danger as he wants Jupiter killed before she reclaims her throne. Eddie does what he can with this villainous role but he really needed more time on screen. (6/10)
Douglas Booth: Titus Abrasax is one of the family members trying to gain control of the part of the universe with Earth in, he uses different tactics but is just as driven as the rest to trick Jupiter into giving him what he wants. Douglas makes for the interesting villain as he comes off good but has bad motives with Douglas pulls off very well. (7/10)
Support Cast: Jupiter Ascending has a supporting cast that includes generic character that all come off twisted enough to fit the part of the chapter they are needed in.
Director Review: Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski – They gave us the Matrix and Cloud Atlas which were both outside the box thinking, this does continue to show their ability even if there are certain plot holes through the film.(7/10)
Action: Jupiter Ascending has plenty of action scenes with a large amount involving Caine air blading away from enemies. (8/10)
Fantasy: Jupiter Ascending brings us into a massive fantasy world with worlds we could never have imagined which really does drive the story. (7/10)
Sci-Fi: Jupiter Ascending brings the action into a sci-fi world where we get to see what could have been when technology gets too far out of control as well as the epic space themed side of the story. (10/10)
Settings: Jupiter Ascending creates brilliant settings once the action leaves Earth that put us into a world where new technology has gotten our characters to where they are now. (9/10)
Special Effects: Jupiter Ascending has flawless special effects with almost every single scene looking realistic. (9/10)
Suggestion: Jupiter Ascending is going down as one to try, if you want something original this could be for you. (Try It)
Best Part: Air blading.
Worst Part: Slightly long.

Believability: No, but is designed well enough to make it feel like even if it was real we wouldn’t know about it. (0/10)
