Beauty News: European Union Bans Animal Testing
After many years of debate and delay, the European Union is finally banning animal testing in the cosmetic industry.
All brands must maintain that none of their finished products, nor any of it's ingredients, are tested on animals in any way. So, as of tomorrow (11.03.13) all personal care products sold within the EU will be subject to the new rules.
The technology for cruelty free product testing is highly advanced, and thanks to two decades of effort by the European Collation to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE) the new change to cosmetic testing in the EU was pushed.
The success was gained by Toni Borg, the new European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy who urged the plan through. The next step for the ECEAE is to end the use of animal testing in scientific experiments, saving 12 million animals a year in Europe.
