A “double entendre” is a word or phrase open to two interpretations, one of which is usually risqué or indecent.
Three days ago, I did a post titled “Stupid Newspaper Headlines” — on really colossally moronic headlines. An example:
[Princess] Diana Was Still Alive Hours Before She Died
Being a cynic realist by disposition, FOTM’s Dave wrote this comment:
LOL – I have a sneaking suspicion that some of those headlines were worded the way they were on purpose.
I don’t know if Dave is right about those stupid newspaper headlines, but these double entendre headlines most certainly were worded the way they were ON PURPOSE! LOL
