Your Wedding Day is NOT the Happiest Day of Your Life

Your Wedding Day is NOT the Happiest Day of Your Life
Harsh title...but I know it to be true.  Now I know what some of you are thinking.  I am bitter because I am divorced.  I am a middle aged woman who has turned into a man hater.  I am anti the wedding ceremony and so I have now resorted to writing hate blogs.  None of these are true.  Your wedding day is not the happiest day of your life when you have a daughter.  It is her wedding that makes you the most happy.
Your Wedding Day is NOT the Happiest Day of Your Life
Like mothers all around the world, I thrive when my children are happy, healthy and discovering their lives.  This past weekend was my daughter's bridal shower.  It started on Saturday when the party was just a few days away.  The excitement was in the air and while there was tons of things to do on the many lists I wrote each item was completed and crossed off.
Your Wedding Day is NOT the Happiest Day of Your Life
Sunday was finally here.  The weather was finally warm and the sunshine was bright.  We gathered the gifts and set out for the venue.  On the ride over, I looked out the window and realized that all the hard work of being a mother had paid off.  My daughter was marrying the man of her dreams.  A young man that I was not only comfortable in calling my son-in-law soon but one that I loved as if her were my own.  I had a minute to pat myself on the back and breathe a deep sigh as I congratulated myself silently on raising a good daughter.
Your Wedding Day is NOT the Happiest Day of Your Life
Being a mother can be met with some unusually long days but the years have a way of flying by.  Yesterday was a very happy day for me.  I think her wedding day will be my happiest day because it is the day I will watch my daughter start her journey.
All my love,
