Everyone knows that video games are an entertainment medium, which we thoroughly enjoy wasting most of the time of our lives. Although the former Blizzard chief creative officer and the lead designer of World of Warcraft, Rob Pardo believes video games are real sports and he thinks video games should be included in the Olympics.

“There’s a very good argument for e-sports being in the Olympics,” Pardo said. “I think the way that you look at eSports is that it’s a very competitive skillset and you look at these professional gamers and the reflexes are lightning quick and they’re having to make very quick decisions on the fly,” Pardo said in a BBC interview.

This has been in debate for quite a long time. Although, clearly there’s no way for the Olympic Games to have a gold medal for playing Call of Duty or DOTA 2. It’s like WWE claiming their wrestling to be a sport. As stated by ESPN president John Skipper “[gaming] is not a sport — it’s a competition.”

What do you guys think?
