The Korean Democratic Women’s Union [KDWU] presented eponymous artillery pieces to the Korean People’s Army [KPA] during a ceremony at the plaza of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War (Korean War) in Pyongyang on November 8 (Tuesday). Attending the ceremony were Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Vice Chairman for Workers’ and Social Organizations and State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman Choe Ryong Hae [Ch’oe Ryong-hae], Ministry of the People’s Armed Forces [MPAF] officials, WPK cadres, KPA service members and KDWU members.

The munitions presentation ceremony was held to mark the KWDU’s 6th Congress and, according to state media reporting, “reflect the patriotic will of the women’s union members throughout the country to make a contribution, small as it may be, to bolstering up the country’s defense capability.” KDWU Central Committee Chairwoman Kim Jong Sun [Kim Cho’ng-sun] delivered a presentation address in which she said that it “was a proud tradition of So’ngun [military-first] Korea to positively support the KPA…the artillery pieces reflect the firm faith of the Korean women to steadfastly carry out the revolutionary cause of So’ngun [military-first] started in Mt. Paektu under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un [Kim Cho’ng-u’n]” and she “appealed to the women’s union members to love the service personnel like their own flesh and blood and sincerely support them and make a positive contribution to increasing the combat capacity of the KPA”

After Kim Jong Sun spoke, she presented a certification to an MPAF official. This was followed by speeches from KDWU members and KPA service members.
