Woman Digitally Adds Herself Into Pictures of Her Younger Self

Japanese photographer who lives and works in London did a creative photo gallery in order to explore her past. In her ”Imagine finding me” gallery she travels to her past, by inserting pictures of herself as an adult, beside herself as a kid. The insertions are  done in such a remarkable way what you would not suspect for a moment that they are not real photographs.

For her, memory is a form of storytelling and the narrative element is important throughout her work. She is preoccupied with the idea of home, displacement, memory and loss. What makes a place a home and where does a sense of belonging come from? For Chino Otsuka, tracing back and recreating the past is a way to deal with such issues.

“The digital process becomes a tool, almost like a time machine as I’m embarking on the journey where I once belonged and at the same time becoming a tourist of my own history.”  Chino Otsuka

But let’s stop talking and let’s instead enjoy the way in which this young women digitally adds herself into picture from her past.
