“without Social Media Articles Pros +pros and Cons to Social Media”

By Julia Fernandes @appshub

Twitter allows companies to promote their products in short messages known as tweets limited to 140 characters which appear on followers’ Home timelines.[42] Tweets can contain text, Hashtag, photo, video, Animated GIF, Emoji, or links to the product’s website and other social media profiles, etc.[43] Twitter is also used by companies to provide customer service.[44] Some companies make support available 24/7 and answer promptly, thus improving brand loyalty and appreciation.

But if we use the term to describe a site like Facebook, and also a site like Digg, plus a site like Wikipedia, and even a site like I Can Has Cheezburger, then it starts to get more confusing. Just what is social media anyway?

Communication Studies are often considered a part of both the social sciences and the humanities, drawing heavily on fields such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, information science, biology, political science, and economics as well as rhetoric, literary studies, and semiotics. Many communication concepts describe the transfer of information from one source to another, and can thus be conceived of in terms of a network.

Great job with this, Kevan. I have a question for you. From research to publish, how long did you spend on it? While I don’t write copy more than 1500 words max and yours is almost 2500 words, I am sure that you have spent more time on this; but I am trying to see if I am too slow or my boss is expecting miracles.

Simply put, search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of optimizing the content, technical set-up, and reach of your website so that your pages appear at the top of a search engine result for a specific set of keyword terms. Ultimately, the goal is to attract visitors to your website when they search for products, services, or information related to your business.

Digital marketing doesn’t differentiate between push and pull marketing tactics (or what we might now refer to as ‘inbound’ and ‘outbound’ methods). In other words, digital outbound tactics aim to push a marketing message directly in front of as many people as possible online — regardless of whether it’s relevant or welcomed. For example, the irritating, flashing banner ads you see at the top of lots of websites try to push a product or promotion onto people who aren’t necessarily ready to receive it.

Review, rating or voting systems: Besides liking and commenting, lots of social media sites and apps rely on the collective effort of the community to review, rate and vote on information that they know about or have used. Think of your favorite shopping sites or movie review sites that use this social media feature.

A survey conducted (in 2011), by Pew Research, discussed in Lee Rainie and Barry Wellman’s Networked – The New Social Operating System, illustrates that ‘networked individuals’ are engaged to a further extent regarding numbers of content creation activities and that the ‘networked individuals’ are increasing over a larger age span. These are some of the content creation activities that networked individuals take part in:

Kevan, some of my articles take 4-6 hours from beginning research to post perfect (or something approximating perfect). I get all the research I can stand (sometimes 50-75 pages) and begin whittling it down, several times. Somewhere in all that I might find the hook.

In order to allow for faster queries, we incur data duplication. The problem with this side-effect is that if by some action, a user’s data changes, we need to find all the activities he ever did and update them all. Doesn’t sound very practical, right?

Facebook is a place people go to relax and chat with friends, so keep your tone light and friendly. And remember, organic reach on Facebook can be extremely limited, so consider a cost-effective Facebook ad strategy, which can have a big impact on your organic Facebook presence as well!

Your digital marketing strategy might incorporate elements of all three channels, all working together to help you reach your goal. For example, you might have an owned piece of content on a landing page on your website that’s been created to help you generate leads. To amplify the number of leads that content generates, you might have made a real effort to make it shareable, meaning others are distributing it via their personal social media profiles, increasing traffic to the landing page. That’s the earned media component. To support the content’s success, you might have posted about the content to your Facebook page and have paid to have it seen by more people in your target audience.
