Hello Loves! It's the latest edition of " What's in My Bag?! " - Gucci Marmont Bag. I'll be continuing this blog post series once a month so be on the lookout! If you have a specific bag that you want me to review (and I own it), then let me know!
This is the SMALL Marmont matellasé shoulder bag in a nude pink calfskin leather with pearl and stud accents. Current retail cost is $1790 ( without pearls is $1200). I've also seen it in black with pearls here and here. It is a small camera bag with a chain and leather adjustable strap which can be worn single (on the shoulder or as a crossbody) or double (as a shoulder bag). When opened, there is one large compartment and a slim card pocket in the microfiber interior. The dimension is approximately 9.5″W x 5″H x 3″D. For reference, I am 5'4″ {but usually wearing heels}. This size fits a good amount of items!
The strap is set to the shortest length which makes it a 23″ drop from top of the handle to the top of the bag. I am able to carry it on the shoulder or switch it to cross body without any issues.
There is also a mini Marmont bag priced at $980 ( B&W striped for $1190) and a larger camera bag with a front pocket for $1690.
AESTHETICS and CONSTRUCTIONI'm obsessed with pearls in general, so I LOVE the pearls and studs on the bag! The blush pink leather is an easy match with most outfits since it's almost a taupe color, and the pearl and stud accents elevate it.
The interior is a light microfiber (feels like suede), and I haven't had any issues so far. Since it's microfiber, it should be easy to clean. However, I don't want to test out that theory on my bag.
This is my first Gucci bag, and it seems well constructed. I haven't noticed any flaws, and the seams at the main opening are still holding tight right now. I was concerned about the faux pearls picking up any dyes from jeans and clothing, but this has not happened. I'll update this section if things change over time with use.
FUNCTIONALITYFor a small capacity bag, it holds a lot. It easily fits my LV Vernis long wallet, small GIGI makeup bag, phone, keys, and sunglasses with case. Since the interior is microfiber, everything fits snugly inside. That's great, but it can also make it a little difficult to pull things out. Just an FYI.
It was a little too long at first, but I adjusted the leather strap and now it's perfect for my height/reach.
The zipper opens and closes without issues. Since it's newer, it can be a little "tight" when opening and closing, but the longer leather tassel pull on the zipper helps that situation.
Even with the partial chain strap, I consider this a lightweight bag (compare to the chain on the Chanel Boy Bag - review here).
SOS RATINGFOUR GOLD STARS {out of five}! Alessandro Michele already did an amazing job resurrecting a beloved classic bag and hit it out of the ballpark with the GG Marmont Collection! This is definitely an investment bag, but I LOVE it. It goes with everything, and I love that the pearls make it dressier and different from all of the others who own the Gucci Marmont camera bag. I took off one star because of the price.
