What Is a Water based moisturizer?

A Water based moisturizer is lightweight in consistency, contains water (aqua) as its first ingredient and are non-greasy in texture. Water-based moisturizer will help to improve your skin. It is faster in getting absorbed into your skin than oil-based moisturizer since it has a thinner consistency. It has fewer side effects than an oil-based moisturizer. It is less likely to clog your pores due to its light consistency.

A water-based moisturizer may also contain glycerin and tocopheryl acetate or tocopherol (Vitamin E).  Glycerine provides the moisture and Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant which helps to soothe irritation and prevents sun damage. Vitamin E also helps in locking the moisturize in your skin while replenishing its nutrients. Some water-based moisturizers may even contain Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate, Hyaluronate Sodium). Hyaluronic acid makes your skin look and feel more supple.

Which skin type should prefer water-based moisturizer?

People with oily skin type must use water-based moisturizer as they have a skin which is prone to acne and breakouts.
Normally water-based moisturizers are recommended to people with oily skin, but normal skin types can also use it provided it contains hyaluronic acid in it.
