WHAT FASHION DESIGNERS WEAR: Christopher Kane
On the red carpet, the Scottish designer struts his stuff in classic tailored jackets with a casual twist. Pairing fitted blazers with a simple block color T-shirt or textured jeans, a look that is true to form as what I know to be the A-typical Scottish guys style.
At the Scottish fashion Awards, he may have worn his own brand jeans but his look was unique and smart with a little help from Versace and Prada who provided a colourful, bling encrusted, shirt with a vintage print, modern tailoring and fashion forward detailing.
Shabby day time hair and a laid back attitude really brought home his nationality: the Scots are a people who dont take life too seriously and who like to enjoy fashion, interpreting style our own way. Breaking the rules of a black tie event is just your average bit of week night fun for us.
In the day time, Kane wears classic cuts which fit to perfection, injecting a bit of vintage “grandad” style cardigans into the mix or that all important Rock edge. As is the norm for any fashion designer, he sticks mainly to neutral tones of black, grey, beige and muted reds, greens and blues.
Overall it can be said the the award winning designer who shot to stardom in 2006, has a laid back approach to clothing, he likes to be comfortable for his work. Sticking mainly to his own or related brands, Kane plays it safe but is not afraid to push the boundaries of mens wear in terms of styling and details.
He is the epitome of British menswear fashion.
