With this post we want to let you know the best lenses options for fishing or to practise water sports. It is really important to be protected from harmful sun rays (especially from those rays which are reflected on water) and care about our visual health. To do this correctly we first need to differentiate between UV radiation and luminosity.
Sunglasses categories (from 0 to 4) indicate the light percentage filtered by your lenses. More percentage indicates a decrease of light intensity in your eyes and therefore a better vision. Regarding ultraviolet filter: you always must wear a pair of lenses including a 100% UV filter. Colour, darkness or your lenses materials are related to your lenses efficiency against harmful solar rays (only a 100% UV filter will protect you). Fishing sunglasses' efficiency (apart from helping us to see fish better) takes into account any possible accident and they offer a good protection for your eyes against baits or any other possible accidents with your fishing rod.
Your lens colour, shape and functionality, regarding protection and polarization, might depend taking into account weather conditions. Fishermen/women will always tell you that your sunglasses will be as important as your fishing rod to get the best fishes.
For us this is true but it does not mean that getting the best sunglasses will mean getting the best fishes. In fact it means that a good pair of sunglasses will allow you to be more precise when manipulating your fishing rod avoiding sun dazzles.
Copper lenses are the best option for fishing in any weather conditions. Copper polarized lenses absorb blue light (responsible of dazzles) better than any other lens colour.
These lenses offer a better contrast; they provide a better image colour and a better depth sensation for green and blue panoramas.
Grey or green lensesThese kind of lenses are the best option for sunny days. They reduce light intensity considerably and they do not distort colour perception as any other colour would do.
Amber, gold and yellow lensesThese lens colours are good for cloudy or dark days because they low light intensity reduction. They improve depth perception in these conditions.
Blue lensesBlue mirrored lenses (flash blue lenses) allow a 10% light transmission. They are designed for open-sea. Mirrored lenses provide a maximum contrast and they eliminate all dazzles from your vision field.
