The first batch of releases in the new year is always cause for celebration. A good first week sets the tone for the music of the rest of the year, it gives us something to look forward to as we trudge forward. This week sees the third album from The xx – one that sounds a lot like the band learned from the mistakes made on their second. We also get some trippiness from The Flaming Lips, who are intent on maintaining the needed levels of weird in our world. SOHN beings the future to songwriting with his newest and Lady Lamb released an EP so great, we broke our rules of not including EPs!
