We Celebrate #StoutDay with a Review of Perrin Brewing S’more Stout

In honor of International Stout Day, today's episode of A Tasting at The Murder Table features a beer from what is fast becoming a favorite brewery of ours. The brewery is called Perrin and it's located in Comstock Park, Michigan. The beer that we'll be reviewing is called S'more Stout, yet another release from their Side Hustle series.

Below are a few words about this beer from the Perrin press release that landed in our inbox not so long ago:

S'more Stout is loaded with flavors of marshmallow, graham cracker and chocolate. A 7% ABV twist on your favorite fireside treat, S'more Stout uses lactose to achieve a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Once you try a can of this toasty, desserty stout, you'll be asking for S'more!

To be 100% honest, we're not the biggest fans of the campfire dessert called S'mores. While we enjoy the individual components, i.e. graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallow, the finished product is usually disappointing...

Chocolate is too melty or not melty enough.
Marshmallow is usually over or undercooked; or worse yet, it's burnt to a crisp!
The graham cracker can't quite hold it all together and usually crumbles to pieces after that first bite.

Again, we like the components, but this is a case of the whole being lesser than the sum of its parts. All that being said, what Perrin has concocted had us totally intrigued, so we went into this tasting with rose-colored glasses.

Did this beer live up to our expectations? There's only one way to find out! Click the play button on the following video:
