Water Rationing, Missing Persons, Free Shipping, and More Updates in the Wake of Typhoon Sendong

By Lessonsofadad @lessonsofadad
Thank you very much for sharing my previous post on Typhoon Sendong on Facebook and others.  I hope people have donated.  If you haven’t donated yet, pls do so by scanning the right margin of this site for the Donate Button.  The people of Cagayan de Oro are surely in dire need.
Free Shipping of relief goods for USA and Canada
If you’re a USA resident and you want to send stuff over, you can have your packed goods for donation picked-up at your residences. Call these numbers for info: 1-800-338-5424 CALIFORNIA, 1-866-377-1192 CHICAGO, 1-800-522-9507 NEW JERSEY, 1-877-983-9686 WASHINGTON STATE
In fact, if you live near an LBC branch, pls note that all LBC branches in the US and Canada will start serving as drop-off centers for your donations to victims of typhoon Sendong.  I think all LBC branches in the Philippines already serve as such.
Water Rationing:
Much of Cagayan de Oro has no water whatsoever.  I just saw this post on the Cagayan de Oro Water District Webpage, which I’m going to post here:

Speaking of missing persons here’s a child that went missing also (one of over 800 as per latest toll), being swept away wearing a life vest.  I heard (and I don’t know how true this is) that his dad, also wearing a life vest, was found all the way in El Salvador (!!!!)  Holy smokes!  So, since the boy is lighter, he must’ve drifted even further.  I hope he’s ok, somewhere.

Here’s another missing person.

The devestation brought by Typhoon Sendong was truly one of the darkest days of this city’s history.  However, I can’t help but be blessed that so many of us have risen out of the ashes (er…mud) and are putting in trememdous effort to get our lives back.
Everywhere I look, friends are flying into action.  The CDO Bloggers community has been either out on the field or blogging/updating everyone on the net on the latest updates (I got most of this info from them).  Many of my students have left the comfort of their uptown residents and are also out there getting muddy.
Family friend Johnny has been doing some marathon cooking, feeding hundreds in Macasanding.

This will feed a hundred.  With your support, we could do much more

My good friend, Monette, has re-opened her laundry business, erratic water schedule notwithstanding.  She’s prioritizing servicemen, policemen, and other public servants, but is open to all, of course.  I thank her and her employees for her faithfulness. You can get to her shop here:

They're gonna be busssssy!

There’s so much more relief efforts going on.  Everyone is just bustling with activity.  Proud to be Cagayanon, indeed.
