WATCH: Novak Djokovic Silences Haters in His New Commercial

By Jen Campbell @TennisLife_Mag

There is nothing more satisfying than hitting back at your critics in a clever way, and that is exactly what World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has done in his latest Peugeot ad.

Djokovic has taken a lot of flak over the years for “taking too long”, “being too loud”, “being too impulsive”, “being too serious” and “then not serious enough”, among other things.

However, in the new “Silence The Critics” ad he takes a swipe at all his haters, albeit “silently”.

“No matter what people say, the most important thing is to always bring your best,” Djokovic added in a tweet to promote the ad.

Novak Djokovic lets his victories speak for him

This one-minute long clip takes tennis fans on a journey into Djokovic’s self. The champion talks about how people always questioned him for his actions on-court.

During his initial days of playing tennis, the Serb was called off by commentators for taking too much time to bounce the ball before serve.

They said you take too long. They said you are too loud, too impulsive.

Djokovic also faced backlash for venting out his emotions at times on a tennis court. But, letting them out during a high-octane contest has helped the Serb play incredible tennis that entertained fans across the globe.

The point of the ad is to let viewers know that it’s absolutely fine to be who you are, and no one should try changing their personality for the sake of others.

Novak Djokovic is a revelation in this regard. The Serb always answered critics by winning matches and titles. Near the end of the clip, the Serb says:

And if they keep talking and talking, let them talk.

The above line aptly describes Djokovic’s incredible rise to the pinnacle of tennis. It was a graceful attempt by Peugeot to combine Djokovic’s career with the brand of silent cars launched by them.

Closing out the commercial is the captionL

Sometimes silence is the best way to be heard.

While a conservative sport like tennis has seen the likes of more tactful personalities like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, players like Novak Djokovic can bring about a change in the way certain issues are handled in tennis.
