The Village of Schiller Park is accepting applications for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list for the position of FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, (or 20 years old with two years of eligible Fire Science Studies), but less than 35 years of age at time of application, (as stamped received by the Village), and a United States Citizen. Applicants for a Position as Firefighter/Paramedic must have a current Illinois Paramedic License. Appointment to the eligibility list will be based on a written, physical agility, and oral exam. Final determination will be made upon satisfactory completion of a psychological, polygraph, and medical examination. Cooperation with a background check is also required.
Applications packets are available during normal business hours at the Village of Schiller Park Administrative Office, 9526 Irving Park Road, Schiller Park, IL. A $25 application fee is required to pick up an application packet. Applicants are required to attend a mandatory orientation session at the Community Center, 4501 N. 25th Avenue, on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 8:00 PM. Written examination is to be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2 PM in the Community Center. A physical agility test will be conducted on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Oral interviews will be conducted during the week of January 23, 2017. Deadline for filing applications is 4 PM on Friday, November 4, 2016.
