Is Mt. Everest "the world's deadliest tourist attraction"? That's the premise behind this video, which takes us to the Himalaya to explore exactly what makes it so dangerous. On the surface, the video is a solid look at what it takes to climb Everest, including trekking to Base Camp, dealing with altitude sickness, and so on. It includes some excellent video and photos of the Everest region, and for the uneducated, offers a decent primer of the trekking and climbing experience. But for those who know a bit better, there is a lot wrong here. At times, they confuse the South and North Sides of the mountain, offering photos and insights interchangeably without regard to the differences of the Nepali and Tibetan faces of the peak. They also play a bit fast and loose with some of the statistics too, at one point saying "thousands of people" attempt t climb Everest each year. While it is true that hundreds do attempt the mountain, we're not exactly up to the "thousands" mark just yet. If you include the trekkers that go to BC, than sure. But that's hardly the same thing.

If you're looking to get your Everest fix, this video will certainly help in that regard. Just be prepared for alarmist hyperbole and vast overstatements along the way. In other words, this is an Everest video as seen by much of the mainstream media, with only a cursory overview and understanding of what goes into such an expedition.

Other than that, his is a fine video.
