URBAN DECAY NAKED CHERRY EYESHADOW PALETTE - REVIEW AND SWATCHES, COLLECTION DETAILS AND PRICES

With just over 2 days until the long awaited Urban Decay Naked Cherry collection officially launches here in Australia, I wanted to bring you all my thoughts after testing out the Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette for the past week.

The palette comes in the acrylic rectangular packaging alike the Naked Heat and Naked Smoky and features cute cherry imagery, along with 12 (5 metallic, 7 matte) all new, cherry toned shades. Unfortunately the shadows don't smell of cherry though!

As described on the Urban Decay website, the shades include:

  • Hot Spot (ivory matte)
  • Caution (soft neutral beige matte)
  • Bang Bang (shimmering pink with gold shift and iridescent micro-sparkle)
  • Feelz (soft dusty rose matte)
  • Juicy (soft warm peach)
  • Turn On (pale metallic rose shimmer)
  • Ambitious (metallic rose copper)
  • Bing (deep mauve matte)
  • Devilish (reddish plum matte)
  • Young Love (metallic cranberry)
  • Drunk Dial (deep metallic burgundy)
  • Privacy (deep brownish-plum matte)

When I first spotted the palette on social media and swatches began to leak, I wasn't 100% sold on the shadows as the shades seemed to differ in each image, so I'm grateful that I was able to swatch and play with the palette myself.

I really like the range of shades in the palette as it allows you to create a full look, with shades to use as a base, to blend into the crease, outer corners, line, as well as pops of cherry tones for the lid.

As with all eyeshadow palettes, there is a variation in texture and pigmentation amongst the shades. The one stand out shade (unfortunately for the wrong reasons) is Bang Bang. In the pan, it's a gorgeous lighter version of NARS' Orgasm shade but it really struggles to transfer onto the eyelid with much pigment. It's really the odd one out in texture as the other shades are buttery and smooth but this one is quite dry. I'd recommend wetting a brush with a setting spray to pick up and apply this shade.

The rest of the metallic shades are beautifully pigmented and apply very nicely.

The 7 matte shades in the palette are lovely and smooth. The texture is soft and slightly powdery so just tap off the excess. The texture does allow them to blend out beautifully well and I didn't notice any of the shadows to be patchy at all. All the shades wore well on the eye for a full day (I always use an eyeshadow primer).

The Urban Decay Naked Cherry Palette is a beautiful palette that's actually a lot more wearable than you'd think. Overall, I'm really happy with how the shadows apply and last on the eyes. It's a product I see myself reaching for.
