Univision Launches Mobile Service & Got The Perfect Domain For It Through A UDRP

Posted on the 15 May 2014 by Worldwide @thedomains reported today that “Univision just partnered with T-Mobile to create a new Spanish-language cellphone service called Univision Mobile.

“Underpinned by T-Mo’s network, the new partnership will target the 56 million strong Hispanic American market with “custom-built” plans. Like its parent carrier, those will be contract-free starting at $30 for unlimited texts and calls and $45 for a 2.5GB web plan. Both will get unlimited international texting and 100 minutes of free calls to mobile phones or landlines in Mexico and seven other Latin American countries.”

In a UDRP decision dated January 28, 2014 Univision won a UDRP decision on the domain name awarding it on the domain name

The domain name is now going to a password protected page but we expect to see a live site on it shortly now that the deal has been announced. was registered back on January 18, 2007 and of course at that time Univision was not in the mobile communications business, but was television network.

So fast forward some 7 years later and Univision and T-Mobile discussed and ultimately decided to roll out the brand Univision Mobile,  Univision decided they needed to go and grab the perfect exact match domain name for that service away from the guy who owned it for the previous 7 years.

The domain was parked, the domain holder did not respond to the UDRP and it was a short decision by the one member panel

The domain holder had the domain sitting there, just waiting for Univision to need the domain,  and then once they decided to go into the Mobile phone business it was a quick grab and dash through the UDRP process to get the domain.

So instead of Buy It Now sale It was a Take it Now (TIN) transaction.
