At least two people were killed and 25 others injured when two back-to-back blasts targeted Muttahuida Qaumi Movement’s electoral office in Karachi on Saturday night.
According to sources the twin blasts occurred at MQM’s Unit 132 office in the Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town area. Several houses and vehicles were also reportedly damaged in the blast, which was heard miles away.
The rescuers shifted dead and injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where several people are said to be in critical condition and death toll is feared to climb.
The first blast, apparently a cracker attack, occurred on Shia mosque Masjid-e-Ali, near MQM office while second one, which the sources have reported to be a improvised explosive device, exploded under a car.
The blast caused power outage due to which the rescuers faced difficulty in the relief activities.
Police and law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the bomb disposal squad has been summoned.
