For one last time,Caroline Wozniacki hit her signature forehand. For one last time, her bright smile shone on a tennis court. For one last time, people witnessed her grit as her loss in the third round of the Australian Open meant that it was all for one last time. And though that all happened hours ago, we still have the feels 😭😭😭.
Wozniacki might return to the courts once again - as a spectator or as a fan - but no longer as a player that we are used to seeing.
After her 5-7, 6-3, 5-7 loss in the round of 16, her opponent, Ons Jabeur spoke highly of Wozniacki and gave her a hug as the spectators cheered:
"You are such an inspiration for me and for many players, and I've been lucky enough to be on tour with you."

Over 15 years as a professional tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki won 30 WTA titles and four ITF titles. Her triumph in a Grand Slam came in 2018 when she won the Australian Open. Later in 2018, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2018 which causes inflammation in her joint after playing. The disease being one of the reasons to retire at a relatively young age of 29, she has also expressed her desire to "achieve other things in life."
"It has been a great ride," an emotional Wozniacki said after the match.
"I think it's only fitting that my career finished with a three setter, a grinder, and that my career would finish on a forehand error. Those are the things I've been working on my whole career." - Caroline Wozniacki.
