Tumblr Tips For You And Your Blog

Have you dabbled yet with Tumblr? I’ve seen many fellow bloggers using Tumblr as another social media site to spread their blogs reach. It’s a cross between Twitter and a blogging platform. You can do more with unlimited characters than the 140 character limit via Twitter. You can view a lot of selfies on Tumblr as well as a lot of technical posts. There is quite a wide range of subjects and types of posts on Tumblr today. I’m been dabbling with Tumblr for about 2 years now. So what can you do to increase your visits to your blog via Tumblr?

6 Basic Tumblr Tips for You

Share It – People always love when you share their posts or social shares. Why not share them via Tumblr too? You can share right on Tumblr or on your favorite social network.

Love It – The little heart ♥ can go a long way on Tumblr. Spread the love around.

ReBlog It – This is the king of Tumblr tips. If you really love something you’ve read or seen, and it’s related to your niche, why not reblog it?

Comment/Notes – Just like any other social media site or blog, commenting and leaving notes is a way to network with other folks over on Tumblr.

Schedule Your Posts – This is one of the Tumblr tips I just learned and loved – you can easily schedule your posts right on Tumblr. You can write in your own day and time. You know how important it is to schedule posts and not share all at once and annoy your followers, right?

I choose the schedule option here but you can also choose the que. The que can be set to post once or more per day at a certain time of day every day. No need for Hootsuite or Buffer with this nice feature by Tumblr.

Use Hashtags – Another Great Tumblr Tip:  Hashtags are big on Tumblr! This is how your posts can be found, be sure to use several hashtags on your posts. Be sure they are good hashtags, don’t use a hashtag just for the sake of using one.

Some Facts about Tumblr

Tumblr was launched back in 2007 founded by David Karp. Within 2 weeks Tumblr gained over 75,000 users. Tumblr now hosts over 170.2 million blogs!  Yahoo recently bought Tumblr for $1.1 billion dollars in June 2013. Imagine cashing in on that sale? Since then Tumblr’s traffic has stagnated according to comScore. But comScore does not fully include mobile or app traffic. That could be the explanation!

Tumblr Themes and More Tumblr Tips

You can choose from hundreds of themes, either FREE or premium to use on Tumblr. Opening a Tumblr account itself is FREE. You can add share buttons and comments. Disquis is the comment system of choice for Tumblr. The mobile app for Tumblr is great too. You know how much I love using mobile on the go.

Tumblr Tips from Bren at My Girly Parts Blog

“What is so great about Tumblr you might ask? Let me tell you my Tumblr tips: I tried Tumblr once and didn’t put enough time and effort into blogging, reblogging, liking, following new blogs, and networking with the thousands of awesome people on Tumblr. Whatever you blog niche is, it’s out there. From tech to blogging to relationships to breaking news to awesome quotes! You name it and it’s there. Tumblr is easy to use, there are tons of free themes, and easy to auto share to Facebook and Twitter.

Tumblr tips from Bren

I’ve been submitting my blog posts to Tumblr as well and since doing so, I’ve noticed some traffic coming from Tumblr to my blog. Now they make not be commenting, but they are sure interested in the “blip” posted on Tumblr enough to click the link and hop on over to my blog! What better way to find new blog readers?

Now it doesn’t happen overnight. The biggest thing is to follow some blogs and reblog their posts that interest you. From that, you will gain some followers. Liking posts on Tumblr is another great way to bring traffic to your Tumblr blog. I’ve notice some people don’t post too often, but me? I’m a reblogging and posting person! I find so many interesting things out there that I have to share with my friends and readers.

So can Tumblr be beneficial to initiating traffic to your blog or other social networks? Absolutely! Try out Tumblr, be ACTIVE (this is a must), and see if you don’t generate a bit of traffic to your blog and networks!
