Nissin Cisco Corn Flake Kinako

These are small cornflakes joined together using cornflake and sugar. It comes in a black rounded tray that makes the corn flake resembles a pizza. It looks very crunchy and flaky as well. Upon opening the package, I can smell a peanut fragrance tickling my nostrils. This is a curious scent for Kinako is also known as roasted soybeans.

On the first bite, corn flake started to flake on the table. I also felt that there's too much sugar in it for its too sweet for my sweet tooth. I would prefer it if it is milder and individually packed. On the other hand, The Boyfriend find that this is a moderate cornflake snack and would buy it again.

Can be found on Rakuten for SGD$1.28 in the chocolate flavour

Shizenmi Cocoa Biscuits

Next, it's the Shizenmi Cocoa Biscuits. These biscuits have the appearance that resembles this popular branded cookies that we known as Oreos. As seen in the video, The Boyfriend have chosen these cookies so that he can compared it to his favorite brand, Oreos.

Although these cocoa biscuits look like oreos, they were smaller in size. There was also a difference in it's taste. The cocoa cookie part have more of the chocolate cookie taste while the cream in the middle does not have much taste. The cream did have a strong vanilla essence smell. The cocoa cookies was also significantly harder. The verdict is, I only buy this if I have a strong cocoa cookie craving. On the contrary, The Boyfriend would rather stick to his favourite brand, Oreos.

These cookies were estimated to be about SGD$5 - $10.

Tiroi Chocolate Kinako Mochi

Next, this is the most highly raved item in my previous post. The Tiroi Chocolate Kinako Mochi.

Seen on the package, this seemed to be chocolate on the outside and peanut flavored mochi in the middle. I like how the individual cubes are decorated with this cute mochi graphic.

Upon opening, I am greeted with a light brown cube. Since it said that it was chocolate, I was expecting milk chocolate taste. Instead, a wave of peanut filled my mouth, I was shocked. I expected the peanut to be in the middle of the mochi instead of the whole thing. Additionally, I did not taste any chocolate flavour. The only part that resembles chocolate is the part where the entire thing is meltable in my hands.

Right in the middle of the cube, is the 'mochi' instead of the usual white mochi, I was greeted with a translucent jelly. Although it did look like translucent jelly, it have the chewy feel of a mochi. Despite that, the mochi in the middle was still too hard to be called a mochi. Although I mentioned that I wouldn't mind buying it again in my video, I have decided to change my mind after eating several more cubes. The Tiroi Chocolate Kinako Mochi felt too sweet and non-mochi like for my liking. It would be great if I had a peanut craving though. The Boyfriend on the other hand do not mind it and would buy it again.

It can be found on NapaJapan for SGD$3.59.

Kameda Rice Cracker Yuzu Pepper

We came to the fourth packet of the snack test. This packet caught my curiosity because it have the weirdest ingredients in the front. Lemon, Yuzu Pepper and Wasabi? This has got to be the kind of food categorized under "Weird Japanese snacks". As a result, I'm intrigued. Au contraire, The Boyfriend was not as excited for he hate wasabi plus such food is categorized under the kind of food that he would not try.

In the packet it contains 6 snack packs. For individual snack packs, they were rather large. In the snack packs, I could see peanut and orange rice crackers. When I first opened it, it does have a weird unidentifiable smell. After taking the first bite, I was able to identify a strong lemon taste. I was also able to identify a slight pepper taste to it. However, I could not detect any wasabi taste to it. I do like the orange rice crackers due to it's sourness but I was disappointed that there were no wasabi taste. Meanwhile, The Boyfriend was so glad that there's no wasabi taste and prefer the plain peanuts in the package instead. In conclusion, I would buy it again if I were to crave for a sour treat while The Boyfriend would stay clear of it.

On first look it looks like small packets of Ikan Bilis/ Anchovies with sliced almonds in it. Mentioned in my previous post, the Anchovies in the packets are from Japan while the almond are from United States of America.

Personally, I am not a fan of anchovies. I always find them hard and dry. Although it does have a crunch to it, bland and dried fish are not my favourite source of food. However, these dried fish changed my mind on how I view anchovies. Subsequent to the first bite, I got addicted to the sweet and crunchy taste of it. As a sweet tooth, The sweetness of the dried fish got me hooked. On the other hand, it does look a lot bigger than the normal Ikan Bilis I find in the local Nasi Lemak. Whereas for the sliced almond, I did find it tasting a slight bit richer than the normal almonds while The Boyfriend said it tasted normal. Despite our food preferences in the previous snacks, we both agreed that we will buy this again in the future.

This could be found on Rakuten for SGD$4.52.

Sanritu Pie (Heike)

Sanritsu, Heike Pie, the first item I saw peeping through the holes of my fukubukuro bag. In this bag, it contains 13 pies. Each pie is puffed up and sprinkled with sugar and raisins on it. I like how they are all individually packaged in a sleek manner.

Since it was rather puffy, I expected it to flake on the first bite. Instead, it stayed intact. It was also not as sweet as I imagine it to be. In fact, the Sanritsu, Heike Pie outshine all the previous snacks that I have consumed in this video. I like how it is not too sweet nor too bland. Plus the raisins just gave it a nice taste. I would deem this to be a nice quality snack that everyone should try. Like the Fujisawa Almond Dried Fish, The Boyfriend and I loved this snack and would repurchase this.

This can be found on Amazon for SGD$12.73.

Mei Ji Coke Gummy

Lastly on our taste test we have the Mei JI Coke Gummy. This packet was filled to the brim and I like how there is a resealable ziplock at the top.

Upon taking out a gummy, I could smell this intense coke scent. The intense scent was also reflected in it's flavour. I love how the coke flavoured gummy tasted very flavourful. It felt like I was biting into coke. However, I did felt that the gummy was rather hard. In fact even harder than most gummy I've tried. Personally I would prefer a softer textured gummy. On the other hand, if I were to be craving for coca cola and gummy (gum) at the same time, I would consider getting these again. The Boyfriend would also get this again for coke is one of his favorite drinks.

On Rakuten for 6 for SGD$12.93. So it's SGD$2.15 for 1.

All in all, The Boyfriend and I loved trying all of these Japanese candy and snacks. My personal favourite is the Sanritu Pie for it have a nice balance in the flavour plus it is packaged in such a sleek manner.

That's the end of this taste test. My first ever snack taste test on IreviewUread. Look at me achieving goals I set for the blog #Inspiration. Anyways, do leave a comment on which do you think your favourite snack would be if you have not tried these before. If you have, do tell me about your thoughts on it.
