traderjoesopensinknoxvilleTrader Joe’s has finally opened in West Knoxville, after many months of anticipation and rumors about when and where it would be opening. The store will be located in West Knoxville off of Kingston Pike in Suburban Plaza, near Toys ‘R Us.

The new Trader Joe’s location in West Knoxville is 10,000 square feet and will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Trader Joe’s is a specialty grocery store based out of California. The store specializes in carrying “innovative, hard-to-find, great-tasting foods.” The store carries many of their own products which shoppers will find to be at a significantly lower price than other grocery chains.

Unfortunately,  the West Knoxville location will not carry Trader Joe’s killer wine selection, due to Tennessee liquor laws. It will, however, still carry beer. The store is famous for its “two buck chuck” sold under the Charles Shaw label.

Trader Joe’s is among one of the many new grocery store chains opening in West Knoxville. Publix also recently opened a new location off of Northshore Drive, which opened on August 2nd in the Northshore Towne Center. The 56,000 store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. It offers a wide range of services for its customers including an event planning center, organic food section, pharmacy, full service meat department, among many other things. Publix also plans to open two more Knoxville locations including one in the Turkey Creek Shopping Center and one in downtown Knoxville near the University of Tennessee.

Kroger also recently opened a new Kroger Market location, located at Kingston Pike and Cedar Bluff. The new Kroger Market Place is slightly larger from the Farragut location. The new Kroger has a fuel station, pharmacy, Starbucks, along with a wide range of products and services.

Are you excited about Trader Joe’s coming to West Knoxville? What other businesses would you like to see in the future?
