Wedding is just seven months away, and I'm doing my best not to let the stress break my carefree spirit. So to unwind a little bit I've decided to do what I enjoy--DIY activities, in this case calligraphy, and a little blog post about upcoming must-watch movies! Like the title says, below is my top 3 for May:

1. X-Men: Apocalypse

When to Watch: May 18 opening night Who to Watch: Oscar Isaac of course! Remember him in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", "Sucker Punch" and "Deus Ex Machina"? Set a decade after the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the latest “X-Men: Apocalypse” finds our mutant superheroes in 1983 spending their lives like normal people. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has his school for gifted youngsters up and running, and has some promising new students under his wing. Erik “Magneto” Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) is living a quiet family life in Poland, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is eschewing her mutant side, worried that humanity still doesn’t completely accept the mutant race. Their world is thrown into chaos when an incredibly powerful, ancient mutant named Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) awakens and decides that the world has taken a turn for the worse and decides to destroy civilization and create it again in his own image. oscar isaac in XMEN APOCALYPSE

2. Haunted

When to Watch: May 18 opening (maybe before XM:A) Who to Watch: Dustin Milligan of 90210 fame, and Scott David Mechlowicz from EuroTrip ("Scottie doesn't know") The James Wan produced horror “Haunted” (“Demonic” in US) brings a detective (Frank Grillo) and a psychologist (Maria Bello) together to investigate the slaughter of five amateur ghost hunters in a house rumored to be haunted. James Wan, considered one of today’ most-sought horror filmmaker, who frightened the movie going public with his works in “The Conjuring,” “Saw” and “Insidious” brings “Haunted” with his unique touch in making horror movies along with director Will Canon who incorporated found footage and multiple shooting styles. Dustin Milligan, who also appeared in the same genre such as “Final Destination 3,” “Slither” and “Shark Night”, plays the only survivor of a group of teens who were killed while trying to summon ghosts in “Haunted.”  His character John, being the survivor, is tasked to explain the horrifying demise of his friends.

3. Ratchet and Clank

When to Watch: May 26 opening Who to Watch: Ratchet, Clank and Chairman Drek I remember how incredibly popular this long-running PlayStation video game series have been. Finally, “Ratchet and Clank” steps out of the console and springs to life in a CG-animated movie of the same title! “Ratchet and Clank” is based on the iconic PlayStation video game where two unlikely heroes Ratchet (voiced by James Arnold Taylor) and Clank (David Kaye) struggle to stop a vile villain named Chairman Drek (Paul Giamatti, why are we not surprised) from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy.  Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “Lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn.  When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colourful heroes called the Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy.  Along the way, the will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity. The movie also features the voices of John Goodman as Grimroth, Bella Thorne as Cora, Rosario Dawson as Elaris, Jim Ward as Captain Qwark, and Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion.

Awesome! Can't wait to watch them all on the big screen!  Until then I'll just work on getting back to 110 lbs (cross fingers!) and distributing these hand-made Save-the-Dates:
