Combining the same electric motor and 1.5L engine found in the Prius and the electric motor found in Auris HSD, with the lighter, compact body of the Yaris was a smart move on the part of Toyota. It is notably more fuel efficient, with a combined average economy of 81 mpg and emissions of 79g/km.

The Karma was designed by Henrik Fraser, one of the people responsible for the design of the Aston Martin DB9. The Karma’s attractive looks certainly belie the fact that it is a hybrid, a breed of cars known for their practicality at the expense of style. This beast employs a 2.0-litre petrol engine, in addition to a lithium-ion battery pack which is recharged by the aforementioned petrol engine. The Karma has carbon emissions of 53g/km and a fuel economy of 62.4mpg.
