If there is one film I am not ashamed to admit that I like it is all of the Transformers series. So now with the new film coming out I thought it would be a good time to go on the lookout for what the new robots would look like. But I stumbled across something a little more interesting. FACT: Michael Bay actually hated Transformers toys and cartoons growing up, and he almost turned the film down calling it “a stupid toy movie.”

FACT: For the scene where Scorponok bursts out of the sand right on the heels of the soldiers was considered too expensive to do with CGI so it was done by detonating over 20 meters of primer cord under the sand. The explosion was so big and dangerous to the actors in the scene that a full array of medical staff were located just behind the camera.

FACT: Optimus Prime’s original name was Orion Pax, but once he become the leader of the Autobots his name changed.

FACT: Over 100 cars had their engines removed so that it would be easier to destroy them and flip them over.

FACT: While a lot of the film is done with CGI all of the films stunts a live action, and no CGI effects were used while the characters did their stunts.

FACT: Not only did the U.S. Department of Defence provided information on how the army would deal with the situations that arise in all the films, but they also always supply authentic military uniforms for all the actors! Makes you wonder why.

FACT: In the film, the name “Autobot” stands for “Autonomous Robotic Organism”, but all through the life of the comics and cartoons this was never mentioned at all.

FACT: In the original Transformers film Bumblebee was supposed to be a VolksWagon Bug however thought there would be a copyright clash with Herbie the Lovebug. But while Bumblebee got changed to a Chevrolet Camero Bumblebee was parked next to a Volkswagen Beetle in the car dealership scene!
