About the title:

The  Viscount Who Loved Me being:  Anthony ( Bridgerton) – The Viscount / Me- Kate

What I expected:

A girl falling in love with the wrong guy, the rake.

What it was:

The chemistry between them was SO good!

My Reactions:

I cried and then laughed because of a BEE.

My Thoughts :
I don’t think this one was as good as The Duke and I. It has a heartbreaking begining and the saddest prologue I’ve ever read. I cried. It really got to me, but JQ explains at the end of the book why she decided to do that. Colin plays a major part at this book and leaves you dying to read his book! Unfortunately, his is not the next.

MUST BE READ: If you like reformed rakes and a strong and never weak heroine! The tension rises through the book, so thrilling!
TO BE READ: You won’t be disapointed, is has to be part of your TBR list!
NOT TO BE READ: If you want this book to be better than the duke and I, wait a bit and then go back to it!

Worth buying? YEAH!

My Selection of Quotes (From Goodreads):

“He was the firstborn Bridgerton of a firstborn Bridgerton of a firstborn Bridgerton eight times over. He had a dynastic responsibility to be fruitful and multiply.”
— Julia Quinn (The Viscount Who Loved Me)

“Anthony Bridgerton leaned back in his leather chair, and then announced,
“I’m thinking about getting married.”
Benedict Bridgerton, who had been indulging in a habit his mother detested—tipping his chair drunkenly on the back two legs—fell over.
Colin Bridgerton started to choke.
Luckily for Colin, Benedict regained his seat with enough time to smack him soundly on the back, sending a green olive sailing across the table.
It narrowly missed Anthony’s ear.”

2nd Epilogue for The Viscount Who Loved Me

Watch your toes,
it’s the Pall Mall Rematch!

Fifteen years have passed, but the Bridgertons are as devious and diabolical as ever when it comes to life on the croquet field. Join Anthony, Kate, Simon, Daphne, Colin, Edwina, and (of course) the mallet of death, as Julia Quinn shows that happily ever after can still be a little bit wicked… and a whole lot of fun.

I went through three outlines for this book before I found a plot and premise that I felt worked. The story required Anthony’s father to have died about ten years before the book began, but in The Duke and I, which was completely edited (but not yet published), his father had died two years earlier. I had to go back and make all the changes while doing the final proofread of DUKE. I was terrified that I would miss a mention!

Regular readers know that I love to include animals in my books. Newton, the overweight corgi, is modeled The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinnafter Homer, a very friendly corgi who lives on my street. Corgis, while not an officially recognized breed in Britain until the 1920s, originated in Wales during the Middle Ages. Corgis are also very popular with the royal family. Queen Elizabeth’s dogs are “dorgis,” which are corgi-dachsund mixes.

The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn

From THE VISCOUNT WHO LOVED ME, meet Kate, Lady Bridgerton (née Sheffield)

The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia QuinnFor Kate, fashion is all about economy.  The Sheffields don’t have money to burn, and Kate will need to make her fashion budget go as far as possible.

I like this ensemble for Kate because it’s not too frilly and girlish.  Kate might be in her first season “out,” but she has always very much seen herself as Edwina’s older sister, and she would have felt uncomfortable if she dressed in as youthful a fashion.  Plus, the model here has her hand on her hip, which just seems so Kate. The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia QuinnThe Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn

These are two different dresses, but there are enough similarities that a young lady might use the same accessories (doesn’t the bonnet look the same?)  Kate is practical at heart, and I like to think that even after she became the fabulously wealthy Viscountess Bridgerton, she would not have spent lavish sums of money on her wardrobe.  Also, after two blue covers for

A book makes a great accessory for a serious-minded young lady, but Kate’s actually got Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers tucked inside.  (She doesn’t like to admit that she loves reading it, but trust me, if she were alive today, she’d be devouring US Weeky at the supermarket checkout line.)  This dress is from 1813, but the Sheffields would not have had enough money to completely redo Kate’s and Edwina’s wardrobes in 1814.  A simple day dress like this would be where they would be most likely to cut corners and economize.  I adore the green, too—it’s one of the colors I chose for my website!

Music that inspired Julia Quinn’s writing, music that reminds her of her books: “I didn’t always realize it when I was writing them, but each of my books has a soundtrack”.

The Viscount Who Loved Me

“Cynical Girl” by Marshall Crenshaw
Cynical girls unite! Love love love this song! It’s impossible to listen without grinning.

“When Heroes Go Down” by Suzanne Vega
This song always feels Vega is narrating a fabulous battle of wills.

“The Mind of Love” by K.D. Lang
She doesn’t spell Katharine right (she uses Kathryn) but I love how the song is about a Kathryn fighting falling in love.

“Nobody Does it Better” by Carly Simon
Oh, come on! How could I not?
