The Vienna Fashion Week 2018 Album (Part II)

By Attireclub @attireclub

From up and coming brands making their way in the Austrian and international fashion scene, to household names, the 10th edition of Vienna Fashion Week hosted an array consisting of many captivating and remarkable shows and look.

Here are more highlights from the over 60 shows presented in the course of a week:

The Vienna Fashion Week 2018 Album (Part II)

Rozbora Couture. Placed last in the MQVFW schedule (which ensured a full house), the Rozbora show was one of the top presentations at the event. Slovak designer Richard Rozbora went this season for a rather conservative aesthetic, but made sure to use fine knits and soft fabrics for a collection that felt dynamic and highly approachable.

Chirimoya. Promising Columbian brand Chirimoya presented a look during the Showroom show. For this look, designer John Bocanegra played with the contrast between a very classic silhouette, which was modernized through the use of soft, almost sporty fabrics and a rather minimal approach to construction. Two bags were added because two is often better than one.

Smaranda Almasan. Romanian designer Smaranda Almasan was one of the big surprises of this year's Vienna Fashion Week. She presented a collection featuring many colorful trench coats (which you don't really see every day) and lots of looks composed of clothes with patterns. The pattern combos made real sense and were not done just for the sake of mixing patterns - this is what we like and want to see more: fashion with direction and purpose. The collection was so powerful that it even withstood the storm outside and the power outage.

Weber + Weber Sartoria. Practical and ready to be taken home, the Weber + Weber Sartoria collection combined once again their two signatures: Austrian design and Italian craftsmanship. You can't really go wrong with such a combo, can you?

Musette. Obsessing with an over-sized theme, Musette went all the way out and used contrasting colors, big letters and high platforms. One must be seen after all... isn't this what fashion is all about?

The Vienna Fashion Week 2018 Album (Part II)

Torland. With a focus on practical, everyday clothes and simple lines and cuts, Torland presented their innovative jeans collection. Besides a special phone pocket, some Torland jeans also feature a protective layer in the pockets, which keeps phone radiations away.

The Vienna Fashion Week 2018 Album (Part II)

Lenka Srsnova. Slovak designer Lenka Srsnova presented one of the top collections from the event: she made use of colors and prints, without overdoing it, she kept it cohesive and coherent and presented different versions of the same idea, all while making sure the collection stays true to the designer's style and not going in many different directions. This newcomer is someone who we're definitely going to look out for in the near future!

Maison Chouchou. Coats with a twist was the theme of the Maison Chouchou presentation, as warm winter pieces in young colors, prints and textures walked the runway of Vienna Fashion Week. Alexandra Andriescu's coats that also feature young and dynamic cuts can be best described cool coats for the cool season.

In Or Near. The In Or Near collection was very clean-cut and precise, which made it remarkable. Also, one can never have enough of good red dresses.

Bonus: The Closing Show. As every year, there was a closing show extravaganza which lasted a good two hours. This time around, the theme was centered around the "colors of the world" and featured many traditional looks from all over the world and especially from Latin America. In the July 2016 issue of InCompany by Attire Club, we mentioned that over the next years, we will see a re-discovery of the Southern hemisphere, focusing on Latin America and Africa and this show is a small part of the forecasted trend.

It remains to be seen where the organizers will take MQVFW next. Will it change after its 10 th edition, and, if so, how? It looks like we're going to have to wait until next autumn to find out...
