When we see a new car, we immediately ask ourselves what are the coolest features and the highly anticipated question—HOW FAST CAN IT GO? We’ve provided a visual with the fastest cars of the year, and some of them have been around for a while! Which one do you think is the best?
Porsche 918 Spyder
The Porsche 918 Spyder is part racecar, part every vehicle—A perfect combination that makes this car the fastest on our list, with the ability to go from 0-60 mph in 2.2 seconds. It is approximately 20 seconds quicker than the 2004 Porsche Carrera GT, which had once been called “the most successful supercar in history.”
The Porsche 918 was constructed from “scratch,” the design starting with just a blank piece of paper. It was completely created around the innovative hybrid drive, so you get the best of both automotive worlds. The pedigree motor racing technology makes this car unbelievably fast, and the maximum performance and minimum consumption features lend to the cars fuel efficiency.
Ferrari Laferrari
This car is not only amazing because the name rhymes, it also has those doors that open up instead of in a swinging motion—so you can feel like Bruce Wayne every time you step out or into the car.
Apart from the fancy visuals, this car also has 949 horsepower of what Ferrari calls pure passion. The Ferrari Laferrari, also called LaFerrari, represents the highest performance achieved ever by a Ferrari vehicle. The car is packed with innovations designed to make the car efficient as possible, without weighing it down too much. These design specifications allow for a lower center of gravity, which makes the car go even faster!
Bugatti Veyron
What is it about Italian cars and their awesome names? While this one doesn’t rhyme, I can’t say “Bugatti” more than three times without laughing just a little bit.
Equipped with more than just a cool name, the Bugatti Veyron has 1001 horsepower, making it the strongest car on our list.
According to the Bugatti website, the Bugatti Veyron can drive as fast as 415 km/h. But if you’re from America like me this stat means almost nothing to you. It’s when you realize that 416 km/h is approximately equal to 257 mph when the awe starts to set in.
Porsche 911 Turbo S (991)
Another Porsche! I see a trend coming on here. The Porsche 911 Turbo S (991) features an all wheel drive that allows you to go fast while also maintaining a decent handle over the car. This can be particularly useful in the winter when the roads can be icy and slippery. I probably wouldn’t be shuddering at the mere memory of driving in the snow if I had this car.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S (991) is also fairly fuel-efficient, getting approximately 21 MPG. Hey, I said “fairly” fuel-efficient! But Porsche also says that the actual mileage may vary from Porsche to Porsche.
McLaren P1
Some people call the McLaren P1 a fantastic automotive vehicle, and others call it a stunning work of art. With those amazing gullwing doors and an eye-catchingly bright paint job, this car is guaranteed to be one of the most luxurious cars you can buy. But with luxury comes a hefty price tag, the McLaren P1 rings up at about $1.15 million. You would most definitely feel like Bruce Wayne if you bought this car. But as far as innovation and efficiency goes, this car is as functional as it is gorgeous.
Tesla Model S P90D
While most of the cars on this list boast about their visuals and their high-tech features, the Tesla Model S P90D is proud of its safety features. This car features a “Medical grade HEPA air filtration system, which removes at least 99.97% of particulate exhaust pollution and effectively all allergens.”
The Tesla Model S P90D also features special LED headlamps. These lights have 14 three-position LED dynamic turning, which allows for the driver to see more of the road at night. The car also has 762 horsepower and the ability to go from 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds. Driving fast AND being able to see what’s in front of you, that’s a good combination!
Audi R8 V10 Plus

A true car of 2018, this Nissan GT-R actually sculpts the air around it in order to use the wind power to its advantage. Instead of building a car based on the demands of aerodynamics, the GT-R creates a new standard of what it takes to be FAST.
The shape of the car not only creates new rules of aerodynamics, but it also boosts the cars efficiency as well. The extended sides are placed with the purpose of diverting hot gasses away from the vehicle, so it can cool quicker, allowing you to go faster for longer!
Porsche 911 Turbo S (997)
The trend continues. The same car but a different model, this 997 Porsche 911 Turbo S is slightly different from its 991 counterparts.
While the 991 is a bit faster than this 997, the Porsche 911 Turbo S (991) has a convertible top, and that’s a big game changer in my book. I would rather be driving a bit slower and have the top of my car down. You wouldn’t want to get that unattractive “windblown” hair look by driving too quickly anyway. Plus, 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds ain’t too shabby.
