The Top 10 Tallest Buildings That Have Yet to Be Built Or Finished

By Russell Deasley @Worlds_Top_10

While the list of the ten tallest buildings in the world is pretty impressive it is nothing when compared to this list of concept designs, finished blueprints and unfinished buildings. They are the tallest buildings that have yet to be built and looking at a few of them the worlds top 10 tallest buildings list might well be very different in just a few years...

The Top 10 Tallest Buildings That Have Yet to Be Built or Finished

10 - KL118 in Malaysia - Estimated Completion Height: 630 m (2,067 ft)

Now known as "Merdeka PNB 118" this 118-storey skyscraper is funded by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB - a government-linked investment company) and it is said to have a budget of RM5 billion (£93 million)

9 - Changchun World Trade Center in China - Estimated Completion Height: 631 m (2,070 ft)

While it is yet to be finalised with some groundwork this proposed project will have 126 storeys that will be made up of a hotel, office block and luxury serviced apartments.

8 - Wuhan Greenland Center in China - Estimated Completion Height: 636 m (2,087 ft)

This 126-floor mixed-use skyscraper is well on its way to competition and within just one more year it should be complete and have 125 levels plus an observation deck on top of that.

7 - Signature Tower Jakarta in Indonesia - Estimated Completion Height: 638 m (2,093 ft)

This is probably my personal favourite from this list and is said to be finished in 2022. While the groundwork has started very little progress has so far been made in building its 113 floors.

6 - Tianfu Center in China - Estimated Completion Height: 676 m (2,218 ft)

Groundwork on the Tianfu New Area started in 2011 but not the groundwork for the Tianfu Center which is still yet to be finalised. But it looks impressive nevertheless.

5 - KLCC East Gate Tower in Malaysia - Estimated Completion Height: 700 m (2,296 ft)

This proposed mega-scraper is located at Kuala Lumpur City Centre and should have 145 stories when finished. While work has started on it very little headway has been achieved.

4 - Dubai One Tower in UAE - Estimated Completion Height: 711 m (2,333 ft)

This megatall (which means any skyscraper reaching beyond 600 m (1,969 ft)) is a residential building that seems to get taller and taller with each passing year, but as yet is still to have a spade put into the ground.

3 - Suzhou Zhongnan Center in China - Estimated Completion Height: 729 m (2,392 ft)

Once again this is a megatall skyscraper located in the Central Business District of Suzhou. It is part of a much larger urban development project within Suzhou Industrial Park and will become its centrepiece when finished.

2 - Burj Khalifa in UAE - Estimated Completion Height: 828 m (2,717 ft)

You are probably wondering why this is on this list when it is already the tallest building in the world! Well it turns out work on it is yet to be classed finished and part of the topmast is still to go on which will make it even taller.

1 - Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia - Estimated Completion Height: 1,008 m (3,307 ft)

Once called the Mile-High Tower this megatall skyscraper will cost over £1 billion to build and believe it or not worked started on it 5 years ago! And yet it is so tall it won't be completed till 2020. Now that is a long-term project!
