So the stress of house hunting is over, and you’re all set to go. You can probably imagine yourself in your new home already. Finally having the sale finalised may be a huge relief, but that’s not the end of the journey! The stresses of moving home carry on until you’re in and unpacked. Keeping your head about you will help moving day go a lot more smoothly. Think about what needs doing, and make sure it gets done. You don’t want to be unprepared when moving day comes along. So, what do you need to do?

GET PACKED UP

Packing all your belongings is no easy task, but it needs doing. This is the biggest thing you’ll need to consider now, and it’s worth getting a start as soon as possible. You’re still going to need your essentials, but start packing up the things you can do without as early on as you can. Packing always takes a lot longer than we think it’s going to. Don’t leave it until the last minute and spend sleepless nights trying to get it done. Pace the job as much as possible. It’s also important to remember to mark each box. Knowing where each one needs to go will make things a lot easier on the other end.

CLEAN YOUR HOUSE

It may seem like a strange one, but remember to leave your house clean. Not everybody does this, but it’s a real curtesy. After all, the people moving into your home have been through all the same stresses as you! How would you feel if your new home was a state when you got there? With your belongings packed away, cleaning will be an easy task. It’s also a good chance to clean those spots you haven’t done in a while. Have your kitchen cupboards gotten a bit mucky? Clear them out and wipe them down! Sweep the floors. Leave it looking the way you’d like to find it!

SORT A REMOVAL COMPANY

Sorting a removal company is crucial as soon as you get the date. Removal firms are often booked up some time in advance. Make sure you don’t end up with nobody on the day! Even if your belongings are minimal, it’ll be a nightmare moving them yourself. Interstate movers will make life a lot easier for you. As well as getting yourself booked in, make sure the lines of communication are kept open. Both you and the company need to know what times things are going to be happening. Find out when you are receiving your keys. Make sure your removal van doesn’t arrive before anyone get into the house!

Taking these simple steps is well worth the effort. The less you have to worry about on moving day the better. Don’t make the experience more stressful than it needs to be. Moving day disasters are everyone’s worst nightmare, and they’re so easily avoided! Take the time to prepare. You’ll thank yourself for it when the time comes.
