The Small Screen Diaries: Milton Edition- 10/09/24

Posted on the 10 October 2024 by Sirmac2 @macthemovieguy

Well, I’m awake. I don’t normally push out the Small Screen Diaries a little after midnight, but I’m in the middle of a hurricane, I can’t sleep, and the news keeps telling me I’ll lose power. So, let’s go ahead and knock this out. I did doze off for about an hour. Can I make it on an hour of sleep? We will find out, won’t we? However, the rules still apply tomorrow. I don’t know what my situation will be regarding electricity/internet, and as such, I cannot promise tomorrow. So if I miss a diary, I’m not dead, I just don’t have power/internet. Over 1.5 million right now in Florida don’t have power. Most of those are on the west coast, and I’m more inland.

TV News: Netflix axed Kaos. The Jeff Goldblum series won’t return for a second season. However, they gave an early Season 3 renewal to The night Agent, whose second season has taken a while to shoot, and will premiere in 2025. Not to be outdone, Amazon renewed Reacher far in advance for a fourth season.

Movies Watched: The Platform 2 (Netflix) with audio description

I’ll tell you my profound thoughts on audio description. As someone who watches the weather on the local news, I’d love for local news stations to employ someone to run a secondary audio track, because so many times I have no idea what they’re talking about, showing a picture of, or looking at. It would be nice to have an audio description narrator who is versed enough in describing everything from maps, to statistics,, or a myriad of things that would make that useful. Yes, we have the apps. But I’ve been trying to preserve my electricity on devices that charge for when i lose power. I don’t want to be at 70% going into a blackout. I do have a battery backup, but earlier on the news they were reporting that people were being told they would get their power back in a week. I live a stones throw from an elementary and middle school (like, if I had sight, I could see the school from my house), so unless they have superpowers to restore to just the school and not the surrounding homes, I should not have to wait a week. I used to live a block from a hospital, and my power was restored almost immediately every time. The key is, live next to shit that is a priority for restoration.

But still, I’d like to be able to give my electronics a break and fully understand my local news. Food for thought.

Of the actual shows, since you tuned in, based on just the quality of the programming alone, my top 3 recommends would be Only Murders In The Building, Heartstopper (the 4th episode is really heavy), and Where’s Wanda?

If I went by description, the winners would be Love Is blind, Where’s Wanda, and Only Murders In The building.

The loser is High potential, a show that out of three episodes on a next day air on Hulu, I’ve only ever heard audio description once.Based on quality, i really hate this sympathizing crap Ryan Murphy is doing with Aaron Hernandez in American Sports Story. Lots of people have been through some shit, Ryan, and they didn’t kill anyone as a result. I’d love for him to explore that more, but he’s too busy producing six shows on TV (911, 911 lone Star, Dr odyssey, American Sports Story, Monsters, and Grotesquery).
