The plant belongs to the mustard family and few of his relatives are broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage. Among the common species of the genus Mustard (Sinapis) are black mustard , white mustard and brown mustard.
The origin of all three types can be traced in various parts of the continent and Asia, white mustard seeds come from the Eastern Mediterranean regions, the brown from the foothills of the Himalayas, and the black of the Middle East .
