The First Gold Medal Winner Of the Games Is…

Adam writes… Round Westminster and St James’s twice today with groups of German students. With Horse Guards Parade currently sprucing itself up for its hot date with the Olympic Beach Volleyball, some roads were closed and we had to take a few diversions off the beaten track.
Our gold medal recommendation goes to the security guards on patrol at Admiralty Arch. Not only were they keeping the public clear of the Olympic works, they were doing so in a jolly and smiley and generally very welcoming fashion.
If the Olympic organizers are reading this… Gold Medals all round for the Admiralty Arch security guards! If every Londoner gives our visitors as warm and cheery a welcome as those guys, we’ll definitely be staging the best Games ever.
