The Big Bang Theory 5x10: The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition

Original Air Date: 17 November 2011

Storyline: When Stuart asks Amy out on a date, Sheldon becomes jealous and considers having a more serious relationship with her. Trivia: We learn Stuart's last name is Bloom.Best Quote:

Howard: It's amazing people keep coming to comic book stores instead of just downloading comics digitally.
Leonard: It's probably for the best. For a lot of these guys, the weekly trip here is the only chance their mom has to go down to the basement to change their sheets.
Howard: Oh, that reminds me, I get fresh sheets tonight. Yay!

The Relationship Agreement ClauseSection 5: Hand-holding. Hand-holding is only allowed under the following circumstances: A) Either party is in danger of falling off a cliff, precipice or ledge; B) Either party is deserving of a hearty handshake after winning a Nobel Prize; C) Moral support during flu shots.
Section 4: Boo-boos and Ouchies. You have to take care of it.

Review: It was only time before the relationship between Sheldon and Amy really became the Shamy. "With the understanding that nothing changes whatsoever, physical or otherwise," of course. And much like Leonard, Amy found herself trapped in a relationship agreement that stated that hand holding was forbidden and she had to take care of Sheldon's "boo-boos and ouchies". Talk about all work and no play.

I remember the first time when Amy and Sheldon met and look back at that episode with nostalgia. She was as determined as he was to keep any physical interactions off the table, but she's grown into a woman who is aware of her own sexuality and wants more than just a partner with whom she shares the same IQ. And understandably so, but from this point of view, Sheldon is still very much a child, so we've watched Amy wishing for more fro quite a while now.
I would have liked to see Amy going out with Stuart for more than just coffee and a movie. Sheldon's realization that he was ready to no longer characterizing Amy as not his girlfriend came a little bit too soon for my taste. Of course, there's still a long way to go before he will allow hand holding in other circumstances than falling off a cliff, receiving a Nobel prize or during flue season, but still... And it would have been hilarious to actually see Sheldon go out on a date with Penny. That would have probably made Leonard jealous in turn, and we'd have a regular Beverly Hills drama. OK, I'm taking things too far.
I loved the idea of the Relationship Agreement. I've missed the regular quoting from the Roommate Agreement and this might just be its perfect replacement. I can't wait to see Amy sing "Soft Kitty" (wanna bet it's in there too?) or actually hold Sheldon's hand while he got his flue shot.
Nothing much happened other than that. Oh, yeah, there was the geeky debate on the necessity of owning the latest Mystic Warlords of Ka'a expansion pack, which could have been hilarious, but ended up being just a filler plot to give the others something to do. But seriously now, where can I find a Mystic Warlords of Ka'a card deck? I'd love to have one.
