Before I went to college, I wish I knew, and understood how to take care of myself financially, while still being in school, and doing long credit hours. All I really thought about before going to college, was that I was going to be making a ton of new friends, partying obviously, and well…basically just having the time of my life, but aren’t those typical thoughts everyone has before they enter college?

During my freshman year of college, and sophmore year of college, for me it was all about Ramen noodles, and the same salad every.single.night for dinner, I still remember to this day how to make that exact same salad, and yes, I want to stay as far away as possible from it now.

However, the truth is, that I didn’t have a part time job until my junior year in college, because I was taking 6 classes at a time, when the average maximum classes that you could take was 5, I over exceeded just a little bit, which made it really hard for me to even maintain a part time job, well taking classes.

If I could go back, and change my college experience all over again, here are a few tips, and just a few things that I would do differently in regards to still going to school, and being financially stable, hins, NOT BROKE ALL THE TIME.

1. Put Your Money Where Your Needs Are Not Your ‘Wants’

Rather than going out to clubs or concerts every single weekend with your girlfriends or friends, go to the store, and really put your money where your needs are. Whether you need paper towels, or toilet paper, making this decision will benefit you later on. Don’t be that person that spends all of their money at the club, and doesn’t have a cent to their name to even blow their nose because they spent all of their money at the club, rather then on toilet paper.

2. Keep Track Of All Of Your Expenses And Your Spending

Every single time that you make a purchase, jot down what you’ve spent, or just really end up keeping all of your receipts. That way, by the end of the day, you know how much you have left to pay your bills, and you’ll know how to better manage what you need to spend money on, rather than what you don’t need to spend money on.

3. Give Yourself A Daily Spending Limit

Set a goal of how much you can only spend that day. That way to don’t go too overboard, but you still have a little bit left in your wallet that can be cashed out.

4. Spend Your Money To Make More Money

Invest your money in ways of making more income, rather than spending it on things that you don’t need. This will seriously help in the long run.
