Ten Things You Can Recycle Into Shoe Holders and Organisers

By Russell Deasley @Worlds_Top_10

Are you an avid Shoe hoarder? If you are you might need some way to get your shoemaggedon back under control. So what better way to sort then and organise them than with something that is recycled and repurposed! Here are ten things that have been used to make shoe holders and organisers and they all look amazing...

Spring Mattress

Do you have an old spring mattress that is about to be thrown away? If you do you could always turn it into a shoe holder and by the looks of it, you can organise a lot of shoes on each one!

Wooden Pallet

It is not the most appealing shoe rack you will ever see, but it gets the job done and does bring a rustic look to any hallway. It doesn't hold many shoes, but it will mean they are off the ground when they are muddy.

Wooden Ladders

You can do a lot more with a wooden ladder than climb it and do some DIY. You could always hang some shoes off it, but this mostly works with high-heels, but oddly newer steel ladders have wider treads that you could use to sort flatter shoes on.

Coat Hangers

If you see some wire coat hangers that are cheap you might want to use them to hang and display your shoes. That way you can easily pick the ones you want for that day without rummaging through lots of them.

Plastic Drain Pipe

You will need the biggest size drain pipe you can get and of course it would be best to clean them out thoroughly before using them. But the good news is the more pipe you have the more shoes you can store!

Plastic Bottles

You will need to use the bigger bottles for this to work, or maybe just use smaller bottles to hold flip-flops or flat shoes. Just be careful when cutting up the bottles as they can get quite sharp.

Wooden Crates

I have no idea where people get these rustic looking wooden crates from, but I think they do make great little show organisers. Obviously you will need a lot of crates, but it looks good and would be a great talking point in a hallway or entrance room.

Cardboard Box

The good thing with cardboard is that there is always plenty of it. You just need to make sure the organiser stays dry and even the slightest bit of dampness from the shoes will soon destroy it.

Wooden Cable Reel

While this person has obviously made their own you could always save some time and use old wooden cable and rubber pipe reels to do the same thing. And if you are really clever you will have a rotating base so you can place them all the way around.

Coat Hangers

And we finish this post with an idea that is probably the most simple of them all, but no less genius. If you plan to replace some coat hooks why not use the old ones lower down to hang your shoes from! Even if it is raining outside they will drain off lovely this way.
