Taufeeq Umar Ruled out of South Africa Tour

Taufeeq UmarTaufeeq Umar, the Pakistan opener, has been ruled out of the South Africa tour after sustaining leg-injury. Imran Farhat has been named his replacement.

Taufeeqm who has scored 2943 runs in the 43 Tests after making his debut in 2001, sustained the injury during a practice session and missed the practice match in East London that concluded on Monday.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said that the rehabilitation program of the veteran left-hander could take up to five weeks.

Left-handed opener Nasir Jamshed, who hit half-century in both innings of practice match, is likely to make his debut in the first Test in Johannesburg, starting from February 1.

Pakistan are due to play three Tests, two T20s and five one-day international in South Africa.
