Time: // 8:51 am.

The scene: // No creature is seeing it’s shadow here today. Our driveway is covered with white, but I’m not sure what exactly stuck from the wintery mix we had in the last 12 hours, possibly sleet. I don’t even know if it’s something I can shovel or scrape off — this could make for an interesting few days. Fortunately, there’s lots of food in the house.

Listening to: // I’ve been streaming Call the Midwife in advance of a new season in the spring. I’m enjoying the songs from the 50s and 60s. I had the thought that I should make a playlist, but it would be a lot of work and I’d have to go back and re-watch the earliest programs to make it complete. Fortunately, Spotify user Claire Kates had the same idea so I’m listening to her Call the Midwife playlist.

My Love Affair with England by Susan Allen Toth

The England I hope to see this fall.

Reading: // I rarely re-read books, but I read My Love Affair with England by Susan Allen Toth every time I think I might really make my first trip to England. It doesn’t seem to date because it’s so much about the romanticized view of England that American lovers of English literature hold in our hearts.

The next book on England I have selected is Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson. It’s over 900 pages and the first of a trilogy, so I’m not fully committed to this. We’ll have to see if it grabs me enough to be worth months of my lunch-time reading.

Blogging about: // The Happiness Project Read Along. We finished last week! I think everyone was happier for having read it. Check out our discussions:

Participating in //  The New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge. I finished all four of my books, but I’ve yet to review the last one, The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. Watch for it this afternoon!

What are you up to this fine Sunday?
